FAQ

I'm getting no video from my P55V, what's wrong?

Last Update: 2019/05/31

Due to the P55V not have the POST code LED that is included on most EVGA motherboards, the trouble shooting steps are more old fashioned.

1. If your not getting video at POST, is it your graphics card?

It could be, if possible, try another card and verify your power supply meets the minimum requirements. Also, take into consideration the power draw of other components in your system such as hard drives and fans. 6 hard drives will draw more power than 1, and an SSD drive will draw less than a standard drive etc.

2. I'm still not getting video with another graphics card that I've verified works in another system.

Disconnect as many devices as possible and try to POST with just 1 stick of memory, the CPU, CPU heatsink, 8pin, and 24pin power connectors. Verify if the graphics card needs supplemental power that these connectors are fully seated. Try to boot the system.

3. Even in a bare bone configuration I'm not getting anything on my monitor, is it the slot?

It may be, however before the board tries to access the graphics card, it has to successfully test the CPU and memory, if either of these are not POSTing properly, you won't get video.

4. Won't the board beep if it's having an error with a component?

Not always, it ultimately depends on what the issue is that the component is having. If possible verify your memory and CPU work in another system, or try swapping out the memory in the current build. Try booting the board with an individual stick of memory in each slot of the motherboard one at a time.

5. I've tried all this, what else is left?

Make sure there are no bent CPU pins on the motherboard itself. All of the pins should be facing the same direction in a uniform manner at about an 80 degree angle from the board. If using an aftermarket heatsink try using the stock heatsink that comes from intel, sometimes this can flex the board causing the CPU and pins to not make good contact. Finally, remove the board entirely from the case, make sure that you set the board on a non-conductive surface like a cardboard box or a rubber mat.remove all connections excluding the PWR SW header connection from your case, CPU, CPU heatsink, 1 stick of memory, graphics card, monitor, 8pin, and 24 pin power connectors. If at this point you are still not getting picture, the board is likely to have a bad slot.
