How do I find the PCoIP event log files?

Before you submit PCoIP logs to EVGA Support:

Note the exact timeframe the issue occurred. For VMware View logs, zip the "log" directory. Note that logs that are 11-12kB are just PCoIP server start-up information and do not contain any useful debug information. Ensure logs larger that 11-12kB are included in the zipped log file.

How to find PCoIP Zero Client Logs:


1. These can be viewed in the web interface IP address for the zero client
2. Login to the zero client IP address and enter the password if any for the zero client devices
3. View Info and copy information from logs to Notepad or a similar file.

How to find PCoIP Host Card Log Files:

  1. Go to the PCoIP host card IP address from a browser.
  2. log in, go to the Diagnostics menu and choose Event logs.
  3. Set the "event log filter mode" to verbose, click Apply and then click "View".
  4. Copy-paste the logs from the window to a txt file.

 

How to find PCoIP Soft Client Log Files - XP


1. Go to C:\Documents and Settings\user\Local Settings\Temp\
2. Grab the text file pcoip_client_yyyy_mm_dd_xxxxxxxxx.txt
3. Send us the text file for the date and time of your issue.
4. Note the exact timeframe the issue occurred and send the files to techsupport@teradici.com

 

How to find PCoIP Soft Client Log Files - Windows 7


1. Go to C:\Users\\AppData\Local\Temp\
2. Grab the text file pcoip_client_yyyy_mm_dd_xxxxxxxxx.txt
3. Send us the text file for the date and time of your issue.
4. Note the exact timeframe the issue occurred and send the files to techsupport@teradici.com
5. PCoIP Log Files in VMware View Linux Thin Client Log Files

The log files for Linux thin clients are located in one of two locations:

/usr/bin/vmware-view-log-collector
/tmp/vmware-

PCoIP Log Files in VMware View Location

The PCoIP server files along with agent files, debug files for VMware, etc. can be found on your VM in the following folders depending upon the View Agent version:


• View 4.0: C:\WINDOWS\Temp
• View 4.0.1, 4.0.2, & 4.5 or newer (Win XP): C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\VMware\VDM\logs
• View 4.0.1, 4.0.2, & 4.5 or newer (Vista): C:\Users\All Users\Application Data\VMware\VDM\logs
• View 4.0.1, 4.0.2 (Win 7): C:\ProgramData\VMware\VDM\logs
• View 4.5 or newer (Win 7): C:\Users\All Users\VMware\VDM\logs

Notes: These are typically hidden files and folders.


• It is assumed that C:\ is your default drive, there may be cases where you have to substitute another drive letter.
• PCoIP_server*.txt file is typically the one of interest.
• A new file is created each time you connect.
• Files older than 10 days are deleted.
