FAQ

Why does my audio no longer work after installing my new 400 series, 240, 220 or 210 video card?

Last Update: 2011/01/08

The design of the 400/500 series, GT240, GT220 and the GeForce 210 include an audio device on the video card. This element has been known to conflict with some onboard soundcards that are by default set to AUTO.

Usually this issue could be fixed by going into the BIOS of the motherboard and changing onboard sound from AUTO to Enabled / ON.  For details on where this option is please reference the manual for your motherboard.

After you change the setting in the BIOS you may have to change your default sound device in the windows back to the onboard soundcard.  To do that, go into the windows control panel and open sound and audio devices.  Under audio you can change the default audio device for sound and recording.
