Do the EVGA X58 motherboards support the new Intel i7-950 and i7-975 XE CPUs? What about i7-980X?

Last Update: 2010/05/17

Yes, all EVGA X58s motherboards should support the new Intel i7-950 and i7-975 XE CPUs without any issues.  However, the i7-980X does require a BIOS update for the system to start. If you have a i7-950X CPU and the computer doesn't POST, please use another i7 900 series CPU to start the computer and flash the BIOS with the latest update.

How to download/flash the BIOS:

1. Go to https://www.evga.com/drivers

2. Choose "Mainboards"

3. Choose "EVGA X58 Series"

4. Choose your motherboard model number

5. Click on "Download", you can download the BIOS file from the next webpage.  Instructions on different methods that you can use to flash the BIOS can be found on the bottom of the page.

If this is not an option for you, please contact EVGA support and we can assist you with this issue.
