Do I need to connect a SPDIF cable to my GeForce card for audio passthrough?

You do not need to connect a SPDIF cable if you are using:

  • Any EVGA GeForce GTX Titan Series model
  • Any EVGA GeForce GTX 900 Series model
  • Any EVGA GeForce GTX 700 Series model
  • Any EVGA GeForce GTX 600 Series model
  • Any EVGA GeForce GTX 500 Series model
  • Any EVGA GeForce GTX 400 Series model
  • EVGA GeForce GT 240
  • EVGA GeForce 220
  • EVGA GeForce 210
  • EVGA GeForce 8400 GS (with HDMI)

These models have a direct HDMI port with built-in HD Audio processing.

 


 

If you are using a:

  • Any EVGA GeForce 9000 Series Card
  • EVGA GeForce GTS 250
  • EVGA GeForce GTX 260
  • EVGA GeForce GTX 275
  • EVGA GeForce GTX 280
  • EVGA GeForce GTX 285
  • EVGA GeForce GTX 295

You will need to connect a SPDIF passthrough cable from your graphics card to a compatible motherboard to get audio output.
