Why are there two BIOS versions on my X79 Dark?

The X79 Dark contains two BIOS versions on it for both Ivy Bridge and Ivy Bridge-E processors. The BIOS configuration is included below.

  • BIOS Position 1 = Standard Sandy-E Processor Support

  • BIOS Position 2 = Same Version as Position 1.

  • BIOS Position 3 = Support for Ivy Bridge-E processor
