Anyone else having an issue with Everest (build 5.30.1900) reporting the incorrect temp for the northbridge?  This isn't happening all the time, I would say 90% of the time it shows a temp around 28C and the other 10% of the time its shows the correct temp 50c+.  I have noticed that it seems to be linked to the CPU temp censor, they change in unison.  Just curious, thanks!

Everest uses the CPU temp for both the CPU and NB reading, thats why the are the same and change pretty much in unison.

The reason for this is that the CPU and NB sensor share something meaning only 1 or the other can be seen when in the OS.

The only way to see/check the NB temp is in the BIOS, best way to see what kind of temps your NB is getting up to under load is to run a stressful test and once its done immeditatly shut down and check the NB temp in the BIOS.  having somehting thaat stresses the graphics card may be a better way of seeing how hot this can get.

An additional temp sensor added to the heatsink may be another way to check NB temps.

This is normal on all of EVGA's X58 boards since they need the CPU temp to be recorded at all times due to the user having the option for the CPU temp to appear on the POST LED, unfortunately turning this off does not allow the NB temp to be read whilst in the OS.

Pretty much accurate.  The CPU and NB temp share the same data pipeline, so you'd only see either the CPU or NB temp once in windows.  EVGA decided that you'd probably prefer the CPU temp over the NB temp, so that's why you see that.  Otherwise, the rest of moltenlava's post is everything else you need to know.

Interestingly enough, the recent update (v5.50.2100) to Everest Ultimate seems to have found a solution (be it intentional or not) to the northbridge temperature reading somehow - at least for me. Most of the time it shows the 'correct' higher temp now - previously it showed the lower CPU temp most of the time.
