480's and measured the wattage per psu. Here are the results:
PSU 1 320 watts
PSU 2 155 watts

Ok I just ran heaven benchmark with 2 480's and measured the wattage per psu. Here are the results:
PSU 1 270 watts
PSU 2 290 watts

It's not a PSU issue.

I agree that its not a psu issue even though my +12v was low. I still can't clock my E5620's past 3.4Ghz even when running one psu and 1 graphics card. I'm not new to overclocking eiter and I didn't have any troubles clocking my I7 920 to 4.6ghz on my last build so I dont really think that its going to be just  me that can't get these E5620's very high. I chose them because they were the newest but now I think I would have been better off with Xeon 5520's considering they were the i7 920 equivalent and proven to be good overclockers. I think I will sell everything and start over again possibly getting 5520's or just 1 6 core.

bigbrag, you've got something funny going on with your processors.  I just ran Geekbench and got 16781 on a dual E5660 system at stock clocks (2.66GHz not counting turbo).  My processor numbers are much higher (20292 and 23543) and my memory numbers are lower (running 1066 memory).   Have you checked your processor temps to be sure you're not thermal throttling?

Edit: never mind, I keep forgetting the E5620's are quad-core.

E5660

Ya haha nothing wrong I dont think. These quads just aren't very good but I guess that is why they are priced the way they are. I think I will sell them and buy a single 6 core.

That's all? Last years Mac Pro with a Dual 2.93 GHz X5570 got 18500… You had hyperthreading on right? 8 cores, 16 threads?

Edit: I guess you did blow away the highest score for the E5620 on there.

Yes hyper threading and everything else is turned on. All 16 threads show up in task manager. I feel this score is too low as well. I should be around 16,000 or so. I should at the very least beat the 2009 mac pro. I wish I knew what was up. My third 480 gives me practically zero benefit either. My scores with 3 480's ussually end up less than with 2. So far this build has been terrible. I wish I knew what exactly is the problem.

Ya I thought that too. I tried a few different bridge's but they all had the same result. I also tried disabling each processor to see if one was bad but that didn't help either.

Interesting, wb, your memory bandwidth is much lower than bigbrag's.  What frequency are you running the memory at?

have u tried just forgetting one of the PSU's 24pin ATX and jumping one of the PSU's and using one in the mobo? i know it means one if always on, but if the main PC isnt on it will draw pretty much 0A

Ya I tried that once. Also I'm only running 1 psu right now and I still can't overclock the cpu's very high or get good scores for that matter. I order an Enermax 1250 and an Antec 1200 OC. I'm pretty possitive I want have any power issues anytime soon.

Re:SR-2 Getting terrible cpu scores 2010/05/28 09:34:43 (permalink)
It's either a BIOs issues or a driver issue. To me it sound's like the 3rd card just isn't getting the call to change from 2D clock's, or the mobo simply isn't seeing it.

You are dealing with fresh tech here. The 480s are relatively new, and SR-2 is brand new.

Just a side thought, have you ran a mem-test? I doubt it's a memory issue, but you should eliminate everything so you can be sure of what it is.

BTW I got my notice in my email yesterday that I'm up to buy the SR-2, after your thread I decided to wait for the next batch or at least a revision. I get mad and break stuff when it doesn't work right.

Now you just have to download or buy the full version of the program so you can run the benchmark in 64-bit mode which will give you a much higher score!

I have to do the math in my head?

What's the actual DRAM frequency?  It depends on bclk too, right?

I bought both psu's. I really liked the antec 1200w but I also wanted a psu I could uni-sleeve so I found a good deal on the antec and bought it then found an even better deal on Enermax. I'm still not sure which one I want most though lol.

Here is my geekbench score at 3.6ghz including turbo and 1500mhz on the memory. It's not a bad score but with spending as much as I did, I wish I could brag more. I can't even beat a mac :-( I always loved mac's and I could have bought 2 pro's for what I've paid so far.

How can you claim that its 1.5kw when the manufacturer specifies it to be 1.2W continuous, and further, doesn't appear to say at what temp that is which more than usually means they fudge it and measure it at 25C.

Real 1.5KW psus like the silverstone ST1500 are actually rated continuously at 1.5kw, in this case at 40C.

Peak measurements dont mean much - it is what it can do continuous.

Re:SR-2 Getting terrible cpu scores 2010/05/29 09:50:53 (permalink)
it the same with Corsair mate, many people dont under-rate their PSU's, the Antec is 1200w continuous but will do 1500w happily, Corsair's HX1000 is a 1200w PSU, but rated continuous of 1000w, and it was 40C ;), look on Jonny Guru, the Antec will do 1200w @ 28C with a 89.3% efficiency, it will also do 1201w @ 45C with 88.6% efficiency, and barley even ripples source: http://www.jonnyguru.com/...;op=Story&reid=177
heres the Enermax 1250w http://www.jonnyguru.com/...;op=Story&reid=145 soo u can decide :)

What mark said, most the time it can go over and not under...
:)
Think about it this way, a little more doesn't hurt (within reason)
Under, causes things to stop.

Wish you waited on buying PSU's...

The nonoc is for sale for pretty cheap here...
http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=22_76&products_id=26786

These are just as good as the OC, your not using LN2... so this should be way more than enough..

Antec is far better than the Corsair... I blew 2 of them.. the Antec's have been strong for the last couple of months on a variety of OC's... 5.5 920's... 6ghz 980x...  No contest.. best PSU.

I'm happy with the price I paid. I got the Antec 1200 OC from a member here on the forums for $256 shipped and it's sealed in the plastic. He got it as a free upgrade from an RMA of a vanilla antec 1200. I also got a new in box Enermax evo galaxy 1250w off ebay for $200 that came from a guy who RMA his original one.

when all your hw/software issues are sorted this setup will be pretty slick man. the only thing that would make this own more is higher multi cpu's or dual 12 core cpus.
