Ok no matter what I do, I cannot just get my ram to run at 1600. If i OC my i7 930 to 3.1ghz with a 2:10 split. When I return the CPU to its stock 2.8 GHz and just set the memory split to 2:12 with Standard profile (setting the right timings 8-8-8-24-88-1T DIMM 1.65v, VTT +100mV) I cannot get the ram to run at anything higher than 1066 MHz, regardless of me putting all the timings and voltages and setting the split manually.

Anyone have any suggestions on y this could be happening? If i try XMP and leave everything on auto same thing happens with the exception of my NB running at 3170MHz. Running 6gb of Corsair Dominators.

If you are running BIOS 43,44, or 49, flash back to an earler BIOS, there is some kind of 2:8 bug issue, I've seem several posts about it. it likes 2:8, and trys to take you to 11,11,11 timeings with anything else.

awsome >.<, well I guess I will run OCd for a bit and see how I like it, I didn't bump up the speed to 4ghz like most of u guys just yet. On a side note though, the timings were always right 8-8-8-24-88-1T, its just the multiplier would not change from 2:8 even though the bios is set to 2:12 :(

well if nothing else, i might try and just push this OC a tad more to get my ram to 800 MHz, coz I am really liking the results. I obviously got a higher 3d Mark score, the Everest stress test and LinX barely got the core temp above 68C, plus I am still waiting for my replacement fans and controller to show up. I would still like to know y/what is keeping me from running factory speeds for the cpu/mem though...

If you are seeing 800 in E-Leet, that is 1600, as your memory is DDR (Double Data rate).

Take your clock speed example 133, and multaply that by the 2nd digit in your mem multaplier example 2:12 would be 12X133.3 = 1599, but would show 1599/2 = 799 in E-leet you would also get 1600 with a 2:8 @ 200 clocks, or a 2:10 @ 160 clocks.

No i know. But I cannot get it past 530x2 using stock 2.8 GHz for my i930 by either running the XMP Profile (with everythign on auto) or with putting in Standard and setting everything manually. No matter what I do I end up with a 2:8 split and 530 MHz speed on the ram.

What motherboard are you running? The E758? If so you are not alone with this problem. Many many others have had the same problem as you. Freezing, Blue screens, Restarting by itself.

What is the Model # and make of your ram ? what DimV are you set at, what Vtt, Do you have an aftermarket cooler, and have you tried working your clocks up to say 160, if your cooler will support the temps, your chip should clock there with everything in Auto, Mine actualy made it to 180 clocks, with all but DimV and Vtt set to Auto. a 2:8 at 180 would put your mem at 1440, and show 720 in e-Leet.actualy with a .5 clock sque, it would probably show 1436 and 718 in E-Leet. but I still think your best option would be dropping back to any BIOS before 43. also Dommenators usualy require more Vtt than other Ram, I had to Push a +250 Vtt for 12G of 1866 GT's, still wasn't happy and ended up switching to Mushkin Ram.

Also incase I forgat to mention it You make your Uncor freq twice your mem multaplier so 16X for 2:8 20X for 2:10.

When you say "unable to" what happens? Do you get a blue screen, does your screen freeze, does your computer restart out of no where.
    Tell us more details.

as i said in the first post, when i say unable to i mean i am not able to run the ram at 1600 i am only able to run it at 1066, nothing more nothing less. the system itself is stable I just dont get the speed of my ram.

ok well I just said... for the heck of it let me try something: set the CPU to the default bios (20x133) and set the memory to 2:12... and BAM I got my 1600 MHz O.O so how is that one extra multiplier messing with the memory? I am about to try bumping my VTT to 125/150 and see if it will work then. On a side note I was able to OC to 3.6GHz with a topped out temp of 66-68C (running LinX and Everest Stress Test)
