This BIOS is ONLY for the EVGA X58 SLI Classified Motherboard (part number 141-BL-E760-, 141-BL-E761- or 141-BL-E769-)

BIOS 44 Updates:
  • Supports 32nm Desktop CPUs
  • Added "Turbo Performance" option (may boost performance if enabled)
  • Fixes 1866MHz Memory Ratio

BIOS updating can be accomplished VIA the below methods:

CD/DVD Installation - Recommended installation method
  • Download the following .iso file: E760_44.iso
  • Use a CD Burning software to burn the .iso image onto a blank CD (Nero, Alochol 120%, MagicISO etc.)
  • After it has burned, insert CD and restart the machine, go into the BIOS and load defaults, save and exit
  • Now set the CD Drive as the primary boot device, or press escape while the system is booting to select CD as the bootable device.
  • After flash remove the CD, and power off PC Completely.
  • Turn on the PC and load defaults in BIOS

USB FLOPPY Installation - Recommended installation method
  • Download the following executable: E760_44.exe
  • Insert blank floppy disk into drive and run executable
  • After the floppy has written fully, restart the machine, go into the BIOS and load defaults, save and exit
  • Now set the USB Floppy as the primary boot device, or press escape while the system is booting to select USB Floppy as the bootable device
  • After flash remove the floppy, power off PC Completely
  • Turn on the PC and load defaults in BIOS

USB Flash Drive Installation - Alternate installation method
  • Download: E760_44.bin
  • Visit this thread and follow the installation instructions. (thanks 30h6).

Warning:
**Do not restart or interrupt your PC while the flash is ongoing
**Do not Flash BIOS on overclocked settings
**It is always recommended to power-down after flash and Clear CMOS

Sorry Jacob but you missed it again. Just flashed with 44 bios and made sure cmos was clear and such. Loaded defaults, yada, yada.

Set memory frequency to 1333, 1600, 1866 with 1.65 voltage. Made sure Uncore was either at Auto or Uncore frequency for 2x memory. Also made sure Strapping was either Auto or strapping for memory frequency. In all cases memory never went over 530/1061. This was with no over clocking to QPI/Cpu speed.

So is it just my system or is this something else. Really making no sense.

Well, I wonder why no reply back on my problem? Supposedly it was fixed. Wonder if it has to do with the fact that I'm running a Xeon rather than an i7?

    2:8 is 1066, 2:10 is 1333. 2:12 is 1600 and 2:14 is 1867. Next jump from there is for 2133.

I also can confirm the problem.
In BIOS, set the memory to 2000, but checked with ELEET & CPU Tweaker they only run @ 1600.

The only time it does show correctly is if you set to 2:8, leave Strapping and Uncore on Auto and overclock your BCLK to 234. Then you'll get 1866 in CPUZ and Eleet and such while bios also shows same speed.

Also, XMP still does not work. If I leave everything at default and set XMP it still only gets to b9 on initial boot then reboots to safe mode settings.

I have found tho that this bios does work a little better as far as OCing goes. I use to have to use a PCIE clock of 107 to get 234 bclk to boot properly. Now it only takes 104-105. Also needs less voltage to vcore for higher clocks. To get 4.666 (wo/turbo) stable, I needed almost 1.5v vcore. Now I can do WPrime 1024 at same speed with only 1.45v. That I like.

So all in all STM, would you recommend updating to this BIOS for the oc'ing enhancements alone? I'm still at the 10/30/09 dated BIOS that came with my board which I've had up and running since late last week and I couldn't be happier. I haven't done much overclocking yet but all is well, no usb issues, nada.

The 1H still shows to e a good bios. I would stay with it. 1J is ok but this one overall gives no real benefit from what I can find.

Its just sad to know that each new bios release brings 1-3 new features but then causes 3+ problems.

Come on evga your a a company worth lot money and this is one your most popular boards, so please can we try and sort this bios once and for all.

We as for full fix/maximum over clock and stability

    Thank You

PS also have the ram issues 1600mhz = 1066mhz displayed

same for me as 43 bios, I show proper speeds when setting 2:10 memory.

EDIT: noticed that running lynx 0.6.4 that my gflops seem higher..

    problem size 25000 around 58.5 with 043

with 044 just ran size 26520 and It ran 59.5

not sure if it's because problem size was a little higher?

    just an observation.

Is there any possibility to disable the 22x multiplier? Even with Turbo Performance disabled my CPU keeps switching to 22x causing BSODs.

It should stop happening if you disable turbo Performance, you dont need it anyway unless you want the22x multiplier, thats what "Turbo Performance" does.

Also turning off Cx6 Function (disabled) if you have this enabled should make it stop as this is needed to set cores to a low power state or turn them off.  Please note that if you leave Turbo Mode enabled this may circumvent CxE Function and turning it off may have no effect but thats the way its supposed to work, CxE Function is what helps get the 22x multiplier.

My suggestion though would just be to turn off Turbo performance, its of no benefit other than activating the 22x multiplier more than you would normally see it.

Just turning Turbo performance off does not change anything. Performance and stability remain the same, the system is unstable as hell. I'll try disabling CxE and check the result.

shock monkey my qpi is set to 206 right now im just running 2:8 ratio 1600 mzh  and uncore 16x.  cuz at 2:10 2000 mzh it still detects it as 2:8 on cpu z and eleet

If you were running 133 qpi trhen your mem speed would be 1066. I figured you had to be ocing your qpi but the way you were showing it, sounded like you were 2:8 1600 for 133 qpi.

Tried to disable C States. It helps but in my opinion this is not the best way to avoid the 22x multiplier. I'd really like to use C States as I did before on the S61J BIOS. As already said, the Turbo performance option has no effect on anything for me. Performance is the same, stability is the same as well.
In contrast to some others, I can (and do) use 2:10 memory divider without any problems.

I use a Xeon W3520. Can this cause this behaviour?

    I doubt it as I also use a W3520.

Making a clear CMOS and resetting memory timings for 2:10 fixed my problem. Also note that problem appeared just when enabled TURBO performance (the new feature), leaving it on disabled is the best chice for me, to keep 2:10 ratio correct. Regards.
