First post... The unboxing...

LOL!

Sorry the lighting is terrible the I took this with my iPhone camera... what'd you expect? LOL...

Both are in, drivers installed, EVGA Precision, EVGA OC Scanner, Rocket Sled Demo, and the Design Garage.

But first, now that it's all installed and works correctly -- I'm going to run it through at stock clocks with my stock OC of 3.3 before doing anything fancy like the 4.0 Ghz with 800Mhz OC, etc. I don't know if my 850W PSU will handle it all if I force the craziness!

Nevertheless, I figure my mild OC and stock clocks will give a good indication for those who aren't too radical of what this can do.

I'll get crazy later tonight. Besides garnetandblack has already done a great job for us.

Need some side-by-side and installed pics....those heatpipes look like brass knuckles ready to do some damage once installed.

They were ordered from Newegg. the S/N were 8 digits apart.

I'll take some rig pics soon once I get better lighting/camera to do it! No worries!

    ------------

I originally said EVGA is the who I ordered from... Sorry for the confusion... It was definitely Newegg... too busy reading stuff and not paying attention to what I was typing!

Yeah??  I really wanted 2 myself.  I'll have them, but I have to wait on ZZF to finally get theirs in...

He got em yesterday from Newegg, who has a limit of 4.  That first batch is coming in today for people who did overnight, but the window was like 25 mins, just like today.  I probably shoulda got 2 but oh well lol, will get the 2nd in a week or two and get that brand new GPU feeling all over again.

    Dry run...

Default performance preset... so PhysX on.

This is my standard 3.3Ghz OC with HT and Turbo enabled.

FYI, the fan speed ramping is a little flakey -- most definitely. It sounds like a n00b learning to drive stick slipping the clutch trying to take off uphill!!!

This will be fixed for sure. I'm letting it auto-tom-foolery for now though. I'll tinker with the 70% all the time setting letter to see what happens.

Okay, Vantage out of the way -- for now -- I'll run a Heaven 2.0 and post back.

PS -- Also, remember I run P55 FTW -- so I'm at 8x 8x on my PCIe lanes. I know some think that's dumb but really... the 2% I give up that way is really marginal except in full out benching.

Also, the 850W PSU didn't break a sweat.

    31k for x2 480's? is that right? I get 25k with an e8500 (4.03ghz) and x1 evga 295 co-op (702/xxx/1100)?

Okay, here's Run 1 of Heaven 2.0 - All settings max... replication off (i missed the option for it somewhere -- i'll review documentation and rerun later).

I also could get the screen shot for some reason so i have to save the bench and I took a screenshot of that.

Ignore the min FPS. It seemed like every few scenes as the scenes change it would hang for a second on scene change. Not sure why but that caused the FPS min to be skewed. The max is legit. I'll work on ironing out those bugs. I saw from the FPS counter an average that stayed in the 50s-70s and a few scenes in the 40s.

    1. i'm not hard core OC'ing my processor
    2. stock clocks
    3. unoptimized drivers/settings on 1st run -- all in all it's a success. my 260s in SLI pulled down a 21225 GPU score.
    4. Everyone has seen in Vantage less than stellar 480 results but much better results in game comparatively.

I was getting the same problem, but it was only really noticeable at the very beginning.  Maybe a driver problem - not sure.  Turning replication on seemed to help that a bit, but it actually dropped my average FPS a little as well.

    31k for x2 480's? is that right? I get 25k with an e8500 (4.03ghz) and x1 evga 295 co-op (702/xxx/1100)?

not saying that you are not being truthful probably a matter of difference in the machines The one that I did was an amd based machine, but the 295 that greg and I overclocked was at 722 on the core and it got a little over 23, how did you manage 25 at lower speeds?

I think he is speaking of the total score, not the gpu score.

okay that makes quite a bit more sense.

Do you loose anything with PCI-E 2.0 x8 (same as PCI-E 1.0/1 16x with this SLI set up ?

The only previous Nvidia card to just saturate it by a small amount was the very top of the range EVGA GTX 295 (cannot remember model).

Your GTX 480 uses GDRR5 so not sure if different.

According to the techpowerup review... it's about 2% vs both slots running 16x.
