I work part time at Best Buy in inventory and in last night's shipment we got a box of Galaxy GT 430's. It was 1Gb GDDR5 and had VGA, DVI, and HDMI ports. I checked the system to see if it was to be held for a specific street date but none was given. When is this card supposed to hit the market?
We also got two GTS 450's but the box was green, black, and only had Nvidia logos on it. Is Nvidia selling the reference cards now???

Yes, if its backstock and not allowed to be sold. However, they're already on the shelf so it would be no different than someone else walking into the store and noticing them.

How is it illegal? Unless he signed a NDA for Best Buy (which I doubt) then there is no issue really. Now if he ripped open a box and sold a card or more on the side (under the table), both Best Buy and Nvidia would have issues with that.

The only time i'm not allowed to tell people if we have an item or how many we have is if its before the release date or its being held for some reason. None of the items I mentioned fall under either category as they are already for sale and on the shelf. I just thought it was weird because I have never seen a GT 430 anywhere else.

I've always wanted to get my hands on an nvidia reference card.
One time I had a dream that Nvidia was selling reference 460's for like $70 and I bought 2 of em at Stop&Shop.
