Looks good. Maybe get some DDR3 1600 RAM instead of 1333 (it's only a few bucks more).

I was feeling the samething! And running the 1600 RAM isn't overclocking is it?

What is your goal or theme with this build, did you want the best for the money or keep long term, etc? No plans for SSDs? Also, would you be willing for wait for Haswell circa April 2013, the new architecture replaces LGA1155 with a new socket LGA1150 and brings new Core i5/i7 4000 series parts in Z87 chipset? We're about mid-season, so you're neither early-adopter or late-adopter if you get Ivy now. But the Ivy-E 6-core or 8-core models for X79 are pushed out after Haswell mainstream, so there is technically more life in X79 than Z77; in terms of upgrade path. The most better than 3770K would be a frequency bump of maybe 100MHz, there is no plan for a 6-core in that socket. In terms of gaming, at least in short term, most don't make use of HT, so you could just get i5-3570K but you got the cash, makes me wonder why you aren't going for X79, there is a quad w/HT there too and you may reach the same frequencies anyway.

Lots of info to think about here. You just can't make a simple post can you? And if you want 1600, get 1600 since it's not much more. The DRAM chips on those G.Skills seem to be the same (maybe slightly higher binned). Notice on the 1600 of the same model and density, the timings are more loose. Edit: I saw you picked out the blue ones. Those ones are higher binned and better since they maintain the CAS 9 timings.

So maybe I should drop down to an i5? This system will also be used for Video Editing as well as gaming.

Thanks for the feedback! Well I have the cash and just wanted to build a nice Gaming rig that will last a while. I would love an SSD but I want a lot more space then what they currently offer vs price wise. I know I could wait a while for newer tech, but no matter what you do it seems you're behind once you make the purchase haha. Is the LGA1155 not a good path to take at this point?

I would at least try to squeeze in a 160GB or bigger SSD for the OS and other minor programs. You can sometimes find them used or new in the EVGA Market place. You can change the destination of the folders for Downloads, Music, Pictures, etc... to the HDD.

Note the newer Samsung 840 is coming out soon but it will be a hefty price and there's no real noticeable difference between that and the older 830.

If you want a good long term gaming PC, you might want to invest in an X79/3930k rig, since next gen consoles will supposedly be x86/x64, and they'll certainly have more than four cores. But if you can't afford it, no big deal, go for the 3570k or wait for Haswell. As for a better deal on the OS, here. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16832116986 I'd choose this case over the HAF 932, since I don't know of the 932 Advanced has dust filters (the original HAF 932 didn't), and the one below has the best airflow design and very low noise (only 3 case fans max for this design), not to mention a ton of cable management room. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811163180&Tpk=rv03 Regarding SSD, Intel is the best manufacturer out there if you ask me. They have the lowest failure rates (followed closely by Samsung and then Crucial), and much better value than Samsung. Their 330 series drives are about the same speeds as Samsung 830, but cost much less. Their 520 series drives are some of the fastest, and cost around the same (or even less) than Samsung 830.

+2, what Boredgunner said. How offten ya build or rebuild? Ya can save about $400-$500 going with a i5-3570K setup, and get ur self a good monitor, and solid GPU or even a nice 2xSSD RAID0....... I dont see the point of going X79 unless ya going sixcore.....

outlawedmatrix I know I could wait a while for newer tech, but no matter what you do it seems you're behind once you make the purchase haha. Is the LGA1155 not a good path to take at this point? Based on your sig, I can tell you're not the type to make major piecemeal upgrades (and you didn't use your upgrade paths), you do upgrade once and leave it alone for years. I respect that because I'm like that too, while those that won't keep for years will see your 4+ year rig as 'enough wait'. Technically, you can upgrade anytime and keep it for years, you don't need to wait for anything. You're not 'behind', as in missing out, since ultimately all that matters is that what you get is faster than what you had, which that is always true. But the greater the performance separation means keeping it longer, hence my recommendation on waiting for Haswell. But, you can use this same italicized logic to upgrade now considering how long you've held onto your E8400/GTX285 setup, since Haswell is about 10% faster than Sandy Bridge, it may not seem like it makes much difference, you're 'behind enough'. I suppose I could say don't waste money on a K since you didn't OC the E8400, but you have the cash.

Go over to NCIX rather than Newegg... you will save yourself a ton of money, plus they price match. Do a shopbot comparison and save even more.

I only go with Amazon, Corsair, ...etc. The unknowns are ok for little things, but I'm not giving much money to them. I had a problem a couple of years ago where they shipped a board game three times because they kept putting it in too small of a box. Then they wanted me to pay for shipping it back. I finally gave up and orderd a more expensive copy from the manufacturer and keeping the damaged ones for spare parts / extra counters.
