The individual pin shapes on the cable may not match exactly. Rounded off pins can fit in squared off holes. Be sure the label on the cable connector corresponds to what you're plugging it in to, for example PCIe to the video card, CPU to the 8- pin CPU power connector, etc. As long as the connector fits and is labeled, it will not cause any damage to your other parts.
