So, does this only work on Classified boards?  Would it be unsafe on a competitor's board?

Works on all boards, but "officially" tested on EVGA boards.

How do you know if your one of the lucky 75?  Will it stop allowing people to request one once it hits he 75 limit or will you look back at when people requested it and sort it out that way? (the reason I ask that is because the date I requested it came up) .

Power Boost was the wrong name to use since it doesnt actually increase the power just stabilizes it and stops the 24-pin connector from getting overloaded.  Also the name gives the impression it will somehow help your performance (some people will associate power with performance).

You should have called it Power Pal.

Good job EVGA at getting this thing out, I still dont agree with only 75 units for free considering you must have thousands of qualifying boards but hopefully I am one of the lucky 75.

Once it hits 75 it will stop allowing signups.

It can actually help boost the +12v rail and keep it stable.

You know better than me but it still a bit of an ambiguous name, I am sure some people will get the wrong impression about what its for but I guess it may allow them to OC more and thus giving them the boost.

It will be interesting to find out if my higher GPU clocks will finally heed higher Vantage scores since I used to be confused why I got a lower score with a higher clock, it may have been heat related but temps were within limits, we shall see I guess.  Hopefully i can stick my physX card back in without taking a performance hit either.

Yeah, hopefully most people who want one can offset the price with EVGA bucks, atleast then some more can get it for "free" or atleast at a reduced price.

I guess we do need to remember that EVGA does alot of good, even the best can make a boob or two now and then.

Really? You spent over 1k in graphics cards, at lest 300ish for a board, and 20$ is just a step too far?

Re:EVGA Power Boost! 2010/12/21 12:25:16 (permalink)
I would like to get one of these for my gaming rig (SLI LE board and 2X GTX470's).  The "buy now" option is gone so I assume they are out of stock.  I am sure you guys have heard this question about a million times today, but do you by chance know when they will be back in stock?  IMO, $20 is more than worth it especially when you have over 1k invested in parts already...hopefully I will be able to jump on this when they come back in stock.  I haven't really followed the threads regarding the burning power connectors, but I would assume since my mobo is listed as a compatible product, it would be wise to have one installed.

Main Rig:

EVGA X58 SLI LE Mobo (i7 930)
        6GB Corsair Dominator (TR3X6G1600C8D)
        160GB Intel X-25M G2 SSD
        1TB WD Caviar Black HDD
EVGA GTX 580 3GB  (with another on the way!)
        Corsair HX850 PSU
        Coolermaster HAF X Case

(Work Rig Identical, but w/  EVGA GTS250 GFX card, 80GB X-25M G2 and HAF922 case)

It "looks" kinda neat, but I'd like to see some examples of real world benefits, other than just loose claims....will this fix a few minor issues for some and have no impact at all for most users?, will everyone see a marked improvement etc...For those with high end PSU's will it matter at all...any possible negative effects (aside from improper install) ? etc...

Is this another Black "Tuesday"??   I dont accept this kind of lottery thing...I'm registered my board E759 on their site...and i was waiting to get an email from them...suddenly this lottery thing that i have missed.. I dont want to pay for this.....How long i need to wait for this....very frustrating..

Did they just sold 75 boards (atleast from EVGA.com directly)?

Any plans to re-open the promotion an additional time? 75 is quite limited considering the massive amount of EVGA customers...........
