kernel pciehp errors in Ubuntu 10.10

Thrilled with my new board but Ubuntu 10.10 is hollering something fierce with errors like:
 
Oct 15 06:06:12 syf kernel: [38749.505454] pciehp 0000:00:1c.0:pcie04: Card present on Slot(0)
 
This is happening several times a second, so i wish i understood it or could make it stop. I have tried de-activating the pcie slots I am not using but it does not seem to effect it.

    You use the newest BIOS 49?

    For anyone who cares, while I didnt update my BIOS I did re-compile my kernel and it seems to have quieted things down
    I followed instructions I found here:

    and basically commented out this line in .config
    # CONFIG_HOTPLUG_PCI_PCIE
