Good luck with the A3's - what I found out was that if you complete them too fast, you get NO bonus.  If you look up the formula there is a maximum bonus of 10x; I forget the calculations now, but if you finish faster than what it takes to get 10x bonus, you get no bonus.  They are aware of the issue but last I saw it had not been fixed.

Hmm, maybe run 2 copies of the A3 client, then?

That's what I ended up doing when I needed to run A3's, like when qualifying a passkey.

P.S.  Did you see the new SR-2 BIOS released today unlocks the uncore multiplier?

Maybe it's just me but shouldn't the PPD for using 12 cores be much higher then that?

@OP: Wow nice rig. Will make one monster bigadv folding rig. Good seeing the 4.4ghz on dual 5680s! What cooling solution is that on? Is that on Venemous-X ?

@techmasterjoe: That sounds really interesting, this about modding VMWare to use 24 cores! Could you tell me/us something about that?

    Rig: ASUS P6T6 WS Revolution - i7 920 (C0) @ 3,8 Ghz - 6 Gb Corsair DDR3-1600 - GTX 285
    Upcoming Rig: EVGA SR-2 - Dual X5650s @ ~ 4 Ghz - 24 Gb G.Skill DDR3-2000 - 2x GTX 460 FTW

opening Linux64_FAH.vmx with notepad++ and changing settings by hand worked for me
    notes:
you have to start it by it self if you play it in player Some time it tells ya crap others it don't
it took my PPD from 12k to 17k (only doing A3 atm) on 980X at STOCK it's on avg 100deg (38-40c) in my room
at night i mod and overclock it can drop to the mid 3Xdeg F at night damn desert (not bad atm it's about 85 ish in here)
please note i have not tried in Win 7 or vista i have done it and it seams to work fine in XP i can try 7 and vista later when all WU's are done i have this system setup to boot xp pro 64bit/vista ult 64/win 7 32bit/win 7 ult 64/ubuntu 9.10 and Japanese ubuntu 10.1
before you ask yes i do speak Japanese my best friend when i was like 5 it was all he knew so i learned

Yes Parja.  That is a Venemous X H/S. and it is about 80c on 4.4 GHz. But 1 thing on the X5650, getting 200 fsb is tricky on the SR2 with 2 cpu ( stable on bigadv. YMMV ) and it is better to get a higher multi cpu ( maybe x5660 ) just imo. so u can do 192 x 22 since i find the under 200fsb to be the most stable for bigadv. I am currently testing 191fsb with 2:10 ram and 20x uncore

Yeah, I'd like to, but I'm finding it really hard to justify another $250 per CPU to step up to the X5660.  I guess I'll keep an eye on prices and see if I can find the X5660 cheaper, though.

let me ask around for ya, If you don't mind OEM chip vs Retails.

Sweet, thanks!  Nope, don't mind OEM chips at all.

Any chance this contact would be interested in setting up a group buy?  I would imagine a lot of prospective SR-2 owners would jump at a good deal on a pair of X5660s.

This site has the lowest price I could find for the x5660:

Coupon GRAD15 gives you $15 off. Total at $1140.

Yup, they've got the X5650 for $939, though.  I just don't think I can do over $400 more for a pair of X5660s.

Oh, and I'd use bing.com cashback instead of the coupon.  3% cashback would be almost $70 back on a pair of X5660s.
