I thankfully (knock on wood) have never had them and hope I never do. I hope for your well being that they don't last long and that you don't have to deal with them again.

man...that sucks...have the indicated (and I mean the doctors) how they formed? Dehydration? a decrease in urine volume or an excess of stone-forming substances in the urine? (many other reasons)...

Can a change in fluid intake help? Eesh...I am sorry you're going thru this

Anyway, yeah I'm sure it's a very unpleasent experience, I can't say I've had any before however. (though I might have passed a very small one once, not sure really)

Seriously what do you drink all day? I have never had one knock on wood, but 20 in a year seriously. You might want to consider drinking some 100% cranberry juice every while.

I would be more concerned as to why they keep forming more so than passing them haha but thats just my opinion. Anyways wish you well.

I'm going to start trolling craigslist for a nice water cooler,  I drink 200% more water when I don't have to wait for it to cool in the fridge.

I had one earlier this year, man I wish that kind of pain upon no one. I had no idea what it was until I finally went to the doctor, my mother has had quite a few throughout her life, and the doctor said that they are hereditary. My doctor blamed mine on my high coffee intake, and recommended that I start drinking a lot of lemonade due to the high acidity. So I would recommend drinking a lot of water and stuff that is highly acidic to help break down the calcium deposits, if indeed that is what kind of stones that you have. I feel for you brother, hang in there!

Used to get kidney stones when I drank too much bottled water. I guess the Labrador brand must have a high mineral content in it or something. Anyway I quit drinking it and haven't had a problem since.

Yeah I know the feeling man, it's comparable or worse (so they say) than a woman giving birth... First hint of pain and I shrugged it off, next bit I manned up, third bit i was on the floor in the fetal position crying like a baby.... Stuff is no joke.

sorry for such a long time to post. i ended up in the hospital, not for the pain mind you but for the fever and dry heaving i was doing. never had that before and went right to the hospital.

a couple guys i work with and are customers ask how i can work with having a kidney stone. the problem with them i have is that there is no comfortable way to stand or sit. so i'm constantly moving around. plus every 10 mins you have to pee (and hope you pee when you don't it's bad). i have seen over muscled 6'+ men crying like little girls. had one guy next to me in a room you thought the alien was going to bust out of his gut. the doc came in told me i had a 7mm, the guy next to me had a 4mm.

it's not that they don't hurt i guess i'm just used to it at this point.

unfortunately the stuff my babies are made up of there's nothing that can be done for them. their composition doesn't allow for things to be done. believe me i drink as much as i can especially water. i try to drink 1-2 cranberry juice drinks a week.

this one was bound to happen i actually got one or two left inside. when i passed the 10mm one the scans showed i had 5 more. the doc wanted to go in and remove them. i asked for the zap thing, i was told they only do that for extreme cases where the stone is blocking or is too big to fit through.

my aunt had one she said she would rather give birth again. so maybe it is male labor. i actually passed mine about an hour or so ago. not sure if it was 2 or the one broke up but two pieces came out. what a relief that is. i took about a 2 hour map and i'm ready to finally get some food in me.

+1 on that one!!! That is what gets me so bad, I can not sit still or even stand around, you can never get comfortable with those things moving around you, I feel sorry for you man!! And yeah I have heard a lot of women saying that they are the closest thing to giving birth that can happen to any male. Hopefully you won't have any more for a while, they are truly awful!

-edit- Uncle Poop sorry to read about your kidney stones. 10mm sounds frightening. I truly dont know how a 10 mm could possibly pass;that is almost a half inch. Got out my caliper and put it on top of my hoohoo to see what even a 7mm stone looked like and was aghast.

Honestly it just happens. I mean, I've heard of so many things that cause them that short of eating rabbit food the rest of your life.... Coffee, Pop, salt, Milk, I've heard Flour being blamed once too...

I never had them, but know someone who did. Man they are painful. I'll pass on that.

Don't fret, it's not a for sure thing for everyone. It's all in how your body gets rid of the crap...I almost mean that literally lol. Mineral deposits, calcium and build ups of other things. Honestly if you have not had them by now your prolly good to go :P They claimed mine was from too much coffee, I never drank the stuff....

I feel your pain!  I had them 2 yearws ago.   Horrible stuff.  I was lucky pretty much though, I passed mine within 3 days.  Was a bad 3 days though.

He told me I have several more ijn my other kidney though.  He said they could come out next week, month, year , decade, but they WILL come out eventually.  Nice.

Dad has had them 9 freakin time.  All my brothers at least 2 times.  The things i look forward to.

Hope you get to feeling better soon.
