I've ticked the -bigadv box, is there anything else I need to do?
Since I did that all I've picked up has been standard smp work units.
Do I need to download a different core or something?
Do I need to tick the Add -advmethods box as well?

The work unit size needs to be set to big but I don't know how to set that in this program. Also advmethods should be disabled when bigadv is enabled. The number of cores detected by the folding client has to be 8 or more to be able to receive bigadv work and 12 or more for the larger bigadv projects p6903 and p6904.

Well it's picking up all 8 cores, maybe I've just been unlucky in the work assignments

Gave up on tracker and downloaded the V7 client.
I think I have it set up right.
    we'll see what happens.

I've always had it force "-smp 8" even with the "-bigadv" flag.  Even though the client "sees" 8 cores, the flags don't specifically say "use all 8".

    Thank you!!!!!!!!
     That worked!

Just spent a few hours stuffing around with the V7 tracker and couldn't get it to work properly.

Put in the use 8 cores setting and there she is, my very first Bigadv.  Now to really see if my OC is stable and can get it
    done!

I had it easier than you.  I unchecked the advmethod box and checked the bigadv box.  Started the cpu up and picked up a BigAdv project first time.  And I have FAHTracker set to use 6 of 8 cores for folding.

    Crystal: Intel i7 930 3.6GHz(OC) / EVGA X58 758 / 3x 4GB Corsair XMS3 / GTX 660Ti FTW+ / 2x GTX 560Ti SLI
    Quartz (mothball): Intel i7 2600k 3.8GHz / EVGA Z77 Stinger mITX / 2x 4GB Corsair XMS3 / GTX 660Ti SC
    Mercury: Intel i5 3570k 4.2GHz(OC) / ASRock Z68 mITX / 1x 4GB Corsair XMS3 / 2x GTX 1660 Super
    Cobalt: Intel i7 4710HQ 2.5Ghz / ASUS GL551JM-DH71 / 2 x 8GB / GTX 860m - Gaming/Physics/Astronomy Laptop

I think that's the trick. You have to tick the -bigadv box AND tell it how many cores to use. If you just leave it at 'use all cores' it won't work. Well it will, but you'll only get smp.

All good in the end though. chugging away on a 2684, up to 24% now.

I believe that statement falsely indicts the Tracker program. I have never had to set the number of cores on the setup page on my 2600k rig and have never had trouble picking up bigadv units.
If I failed to get one on my first try I would have thought it unusual also. At least it works for you now so fold on.

Hmmm. I was the opposite. Didn't get a bigadv until I unchecked the use all cores box and ticked the use specified number of cores and put 8 in there.
Wonder if it has something to do with the chip, seeing as it only has 4 physical cores but 8 threads? Probably something in the coding.
In no way was I indicting Tracker for anything. I think it is a supremely awesome program that makes folding for non techies amazing easy. Much much easier than the console clients or even the new V7 client as far as I'm concerned.
I hope that Jedi has the time to keep supporting/updating the program.

Yeah, use VMware instead... or Ubuntu.

Amen to that.  I've used FAH clients before V.6.  V.6 was a good step up.  The new V.7 FAHControl is a bit messy.  Too many option fields to explain and does not always work.  It is information overload for the user.  It works for my newer PC Rig Crystal, but not for my older PC Rig Kara.  The GPUTracker from Jedi works flawless on both PCs'.  Enter a fields of info, check the correct boxes and go fold away.

So if Jedi comes out with another updated GPUTracker, I'm willing to try it out.  And if it includes something like remote access, then heck yes, I would love that.

Well you jinxed me Simba!   That'll teach me to open my yap.
I've now gone 2 Wu's without picking up a bigadv. I'll keep my eye on it but I think there is a shortage of them at the moment. Good luck with yours.

I'm using V7 Client on a i7 2600k and have not had any issues picking up a bigadv with the option set to "Use all cores". I ran into an issue picking up bigadv when setting the client to only use 7 threads. Once I defaulted the option back to 0 for all cores, I picked up another bigadv.

    oops, sorry.
I've put mine back to SMP. I just wanted to see if my system could do bigadv, not something I want to do all the time as this is my only rig and I do like to have a game every now and again.
Curiously, I only loose 3000ppd from bigadv-smp.  Seems a bit odd, but I'll take it
