EVGA has released the A118 Firmware which solves a lot of memory compatibility issues. Previously the G.Skill 2133 kit was only bootable at 1866 with any sort of stability. Post A118 the kit is able to boot at 2133 MHz with some tweaking. Like before, the Auto SPD / XMP Profile 1 / XMP Profile 2 options will not work and will cause your PC to not post. A solution follows that allows you to get the full use of your memory.

Keep in mind this is targetted at those with the P67 FTW board running an i7-2600K with the G.Skill F3-17000CL9D-8GBXLD kit. I cannot verify this solution with other combinations although I'm sure some will work.

1. Update your BIOS to Firmware A118.
2. Enter Overclocking in BIOS and set your DIMM Voltage Control to Manual. Raise Voltage to 1650mv (1.65v).
3. Enter Memory Configure.
4. Change Memory Multiplier to 2133 MHz.
5. Change SPD Profile Select to Custom Profile.
6. Change Channel A / B Memory Timing Configure settings as follows:

tCL Control to Manual @ 9
tRCD Control to Manual @ 11
tRP Control to Manual @ 9
tRAS Control to Manual @ 28
Command Rate to Manual @ 2

If you have any questions feel free to PM me on the forums.

Where did you get the Command Rate from? I have F3-17000CL11D-8GBXL and anything other than the default settings that I've attempted (before A118) wouldn't post.

Try my solution for the other set of memory above, but use these settings. The timings are direct from the G.Skill site for your RAM.

Set your voltage to 1500mv (1.5v)

tCL Control to Manual @ 11
tRCD Control to Manual @ 11
tRP Control to Manual @ 11
tRAS Control to Manual @ 30
Command Rate to Manual @ 2

So the 2N denotes "Command Rate" ?

Correct. 2T and 2N are interchangeable.

I'll be home from work in a couple of hours. If only the UEFI had a ssh/remote desktop/etc option (kidding please don't).

Hello, i tried following this and i am still unable to force 2133.
I can get 1866 to work this way but not 2133.
I bought 2 sets of this ram and both do exactly same, i know this indicated mainboard more than ram.

Any suggestions?

Alright after i posted this, i upped my DRAM voltage to 1.525v and now its working at 2133.
Not sure that this is required for anyone else, it worked for me. Rather Bizarre, but i am now happy.
I am now running 4 sticks instead of 2, but i had same issue regardless.

I noticed in the XMP profile(ELEET/CUPID), it lists the Command rate 1T. When i follow the steps and leave it at 1866 but input 1T i get exact same error code and no post like that when i engage XMP profile in BIOS. Perhaps this setting alone is causing the XMP profile to fail post.

When you look at Gskills link above in post #3 it shows 2N which is stated 2T Command Rate.
This to me points toward Gskills problem, and not EVGA's. At first i was aggrivated at EVGA, now i must forgive them and fault Gskill.

Maybe its a bug for CPUID to show the XMP profile 1T or maybe its just wrong. Either way, i hope this thread helps others who get this ram.

Thanks for the help EVGA forums and users! I still continue to be happy with EVGA and i just bought 3 of thier video cards, and this mainboard. Now i have to sell my x58 classified :)

With the F3-17000CL11D-8GBXL kit (I have 2 installed) - even when setting the 1.5Vs and 11-11-11-30-2T @ 2133 MHz (or even 1333/1600/1866), I could never get it stable with Prime95. I thought it was the CPU or Motherboard as Memtest checked out all 16 gigs just fine several times.

Come to find out after 2 days of troubleshooting, the motherboard wasn't supplying the correct RAM voltage it seems. (drawn from the fact that I tried with a 1600 MHz set of Gskill and the same exact problem occurred at the same time in Prime95)

Solution to get it stable at stock speeds AND overclocked? I bumped up the RAM voltage from 1.5 to 1.525. Now, I am running Prim95 ROCK STABLE at stock CPU settings, as well as 4.6 GHz now (1.375 Volts for me).

Before bumping up the voltage from 1.5 to 1.525 for the RAM, it was IMPOSSIBLE to run Prime95 stably even at stock CPU speeds and 1333 RAM speeds, let alone 2133 MHz for the RAM. This seems to be a flaw with the EVGA P67 FTW motherboard, and I will be calling EVGA back to cancel my RMA and inform them of my find.

Finally, my i7 2600K is running overclocked at 4.6GHz with the RAM at 2133 MHz - and it is stable. I hope this may help anyone with a similar problem.

i have a feeling that the extra sticks and power draw do to the extra speed over max stock(1333 vs 2133) is causeing some droop. this would be akin to upping the cpu voltage when yout would o/c it.

Is it possible it is more the ram quality? Not defending one or the other as i do not have conclusive evidence to suggest one over the other. However if 2 people have exact same issue as it would suggest we have. The likely scenario would possibly tilt more towards motherboard. Unlikely to have two or four sets of ram with same flaw

I did note in the bios and in windows the dram voltage was about 1.4930.
i did not however measure with a volt meter.

Maybe this can be fixed in a bios update. Assuming its motherboard specific.

see my above post. remember while the board says it supports 2133 the cpu is only rated to 1333. adjusting voltages for o/cs has always been par for the coarse.

Yes, but even when I manually set it to 1333 MHz, I had the same problem. Bumping up the RAM voltage completely cleared the issue at stock CPU settings and OCed settings. Additionally, memory speed is supposedly independent with the sandybridge CPU.

I wanted ti bring this one to the front again. I have this very same RAM and I have been working with the guys at Gskill andthey had me running it @ 910 9 28 2t, but that fails LinX and gets you a bluse sceen in a heart beat. but if you run this ram F3-17000CL9D-8GBXLD DDR3 2133 @ 9, 11, 9, 28, 2T like "Vigsta" states here you will get 20 passes on LinX no problems.
I hope this helps. I looked for several hours for this because I knew it was here.

I should have put that in as well. Sorry.
I was haveing all sort of issues so I loaded defaults first and started from scratch,
Mem 1.65V and the VICCO @ 1.1 as per GSKIL Rep
CPU set @ 3.2 1.42V and ran LinX 20 passes all good.
Now I am back to Jacobs Guide with Vcore @ 1.3 up one notch at a time and currently at 4.5GHz and Mem @1.65V and the VICCO @ 1.1 and currently running LinX.
Do you have any idea?

Hi, I just wanted to say that Arestavos post about upping ram voltage to 1525 also worked for me, and I was experiencing the same exact problems.

Thank you and it did help.

just to let you know. i have set my ram to your specifications and i am assuming that it is unstable. as i get restarts for no reason. or sometimes when i am using Norton Utilities and running one of the programs.. i will leave the room and come back and the system rebooted.. i also was playing COD MW3 and got about halfway through the game .. suddenly the screen went black and when i shut it down and went back in. suddenly all the files were corrupted on steam. even when i tried clearing the cache.. it kept finding more and more corrupt files. i don't have anything OC except the ram.. .. i have another thread talking about PC restarting. and they suggested i try adjusting the Viccio?? i guess i will try that and see. anyone else have problems with this ram. my processor nor Video card are OC.. the i2600k.. runs at 3.4 which is what the pc picked it up as when i first booted up. not sure what else to do. my settings are exactly as you had discussed.

You are absolutely correct with these settings, I have the sames set up. These also apply to the Z68-FTW as well.

Anyone still following this thread that knows the settings to get F3-17000CL9D-8GBXM running stable on a P67 SLI would be greatly appreciated.

The information here already has been helpful enough that I'm able to achieve stability at 1867 using DIMM Voltage of 1.65v, VCCIO is 1.1v, and timing is 9-11-9-28-2T.  I would love to get this running at 2133 though.

Re:Solution for P67 FTW / G.Skill 2133 (F3-17000CL9D-8GBXLD) problems 2012/02/08 12:12:27
The correct timings are  9-11-10-28-T2- 1.65V Be sure to choose the 2133 manually as well. for both channels.
It looks like you set them 9-11-9-28-2T- 1.65V You should not need to change the VCCIO unless your over clocking them.

I will try those timings tonight when I get home.  I can't remember now if I tried that timing or not, but I think I did.  The current settings I'm using for timing and VCCIO were what was suggested by someone on the G Skill forums.  I will set VCCIO back to Auto tonight when I try these settings though, then try again at 1.1v if it still doesn't work.

I tried the timings you suggested and I still can't get Windows to boot with the memory multiplier set to 2133.  I tried it with VCCIO on auto and at 1.1v and had the same result for both.

The computer completes POST and the Windows splash screen starts it's animation then a BSOD flashes and the computer reboots.

I'm still only able to run at 1867 even with the correct timings.

1 question I forgot to ask is your motherboard bios updated to the newest version (A121)? If not I would update the bios first. Don't forget you will need to re-enter your ram settings after you flash the bios.  If that doesn't solve the problem then try the correct setting with one stick of ram at a time, just to rule that out the possibility of a bad stick.
Also listing you system specs will aid the people in this forum with helping you diagnose the problem.

I think I have a bad stick.

Using all the proper settings and timings I have one stick that runs stable at 2133 while the other stick blue screens when set to 2133.
