Announcing the 2011 Summer Folding Showdown!  Contest registration is now officially open and will continue through July 8th 2011.  The contest is a bit different than what we've typically run before, with the aim of allowing teams to cope with the summer heat in other ways than raw folding output.

Hey troy I found that the sign up and participant list link to the same sign up section and not the list.

I've put down 10,000 as I just got my summer job back and therefore will probably be folding quite a few half days.

I am in for some folding fun!!

On the EOC site they have a 24 hour average field. Perhaps you could use that as a basis for your estimation?
 
I know I put mine a little lower because I have stuff going on with work and side projects, so I won't be able to run -bigadv's full time for the 21 days. Also my girlfriend has been using the i5 rig more, so it is not running 100% 24/7.

I'm in.... but I'm far from the standard of PPD you're all getting my 24hr average is 1,550, I'm only SMP folding on a dual core.... If it's not good enough then I'm happy to cheer teams on as I did before.

Yo Kody.... If not running -bigadv 24/7... why would you? even an SR2 would lose huge. JIMO. just go regular SMP's.

Because -bigadv's produce better PPD, require less power, and pump out less heat to my office when I know I'm not going to need the computer for a day or two?
 
When I have a busy schedule, I put the -bigadv flag on and the computer pretty much gets left alone for a few days because I'm either not home or don't feel like using it. Be it working late, side projects, going out to dinner/drinks...I know when I'm not going to be home to be sitting on my computer. If my schedule is less full, I drop the -bigadv so that I can play games and do video stuff without having any reservations of hitting the -oneunit flag or even turning things off to free up resources for my other programs. 
 
 

I'm in to give 32-34K PPD! I'm not so sure about the heat though... It's getting really hot this week and my CPU's idling at lower 40's!

Everyone is welcome - both big and small!    Those differences are what is going to make this contest interesting (and also makes it easier to balance teams).

Report your average PPD for a week - that's why we run it over the course of a week and not a day or two!

 
I did the low end of my weekly production of 360k.  Is that correct?
