Hi, Just finished building together my new system: 2x Intel E5520 6x 4GB Kingston DDR3 1333 ECC reg Addon carts 1x Adaptec 1405 ( in PCIe 1 ) 1x Creative X-Fi (in PCIe 2 ) 1x 8800GT 1GB ( in PCIe 3 ) 1x 295GTX ( in PCIe 5 ) 1x 8800GTS 320 (in PCIe 7 ) 2x Intel 80 GB SSD and 2x SAS and one S-ATA HDD at the Adaptec. well I can't move the adaptec somewhere else because the cable is to short. If I power the system up - all screen's stay dark :/ and the board show's me "2A" What should I do? Greetings MAFRI

i got the same thing with a z drive in pcie 1 try your graphics card in slot 1 edit: on second thoughts... my z drive eventually worked in slot 1, so you should probably re-do your power connectors to the gpus and mobo

If your video card is in pci-e 3 or higher, make sure you power the motherboard 6 pin next to slot 1. It supplies power to pci-e 3-..... .. Good Luck.. Joe

Oh no no sorry... I mean I already have the E5520's but with another mobo, I was hoping to see someone with the SR-2 and same proc's so I could see how well they overclock :(

And with my 295GTX if i put this card on the first slot I only get 2A @.@ this is an old 295GTX with 2 PCBs... MAFRI

All bugs etc. -Adaptec in Slot 3 -X-fi in Slot 4 (tried every combination down there with this cards inside and without, and with Adaptec in slot 4 and xfi in 3 and with one card etc. etc. etc. ) - 295GTX in the first slot and 2 screen's on the -> 2A -8800GT in the first slot 2 screen's on it -> work -8800GT in the first slot 2 screen's on it and 295GTX in the 5. slot with 2 screens -> 2A -8800GT in the first slot 2 screen's on it and 295GTX in the 5. slot without screens -> work -8800GT in the first slot 2 screen's on it and 295GTX in the 5. slot with 1 screens -> System freezes during post -8800GT or 8800GTs first slot with 1 screen and 8800GT oder 8800GTS in the 5. or 7. slot with one screen - > work -295GTX in the first slot with 1 screen -> work only with bios A47 -8800GT in the frist slot 1 screen and 295GTX and 8800GTS in the 5. or 7. slot without a screen - work ( but if I plug anywhere the next screen -> 2A can't try the 8800GT in slot 7. because this card's cooler goes a bit over the back so it won'T fit if i plug a card in slot 5. Tried all BIOS versions which are download able from your side with default settings - and with everything onboard disabled. -> 2A The Adaptec 1405 Option and Boot rom is disabled. ( but enabling it won't do a change to the error ) And tried with PCIe bus set to 101Mhz. -> 2 A And of course tried withoud ODD and without HDDs and SSDs etc. etc. etc. etc. -> 2A the config i would like to use 295GTX in the first slot with 1 screen 8800GT in the 5. slot with 1 screen and 8800GTS in the 7. slot with 2 screens - > 2a So please show me what your great 24/7 support like printed in the manual can do...

Okay will send it back - that can't be an enthusiast platform where I am only able to use 2 screens ? no way it's cheaper for me to buy another board - will be again from Supermicro - as if I won't work another day just because the hardware is so touchy. Sry for saying that - but this is my damn workstation I have to work with - and if I have the money and interests to buy a board like this - it should work. Benchmarking isn't everything in live... @EVGA what will a kid do which just bought your board 4 GPUs and 3x big 3D Screen? Can't play surround gaming ? Just used this example because that might be the second biggest part of clients which bought your board. ( after benchmarking persons.. ) Persons who really want to work with your hardware comes last, who just want to take the advantage of use the OC futures to get the same performance with a 300$ like with a 1000$ Xeon... Hmmm does nvidia surround even work in 8800 cards?! as far as I know, not man! And also I think if you want to use nvidia surround on 3 monitors, you need to enable SLI because each card can handle maximum 2 monitors, so ou can't since the only card that supports surround is your 295. Seems to me it's more of a problem with your mix and match cards :/

The issues you are having sound very much related to your sli nVidia surround configuration...NOT and EVGA motherboard problem. I have seen some of these very same issues early in the nVida surround driver beta testing. The current drivers are stable and I suggest you start with 2 cards only in SLI mode and the current nVidia drivers. Put a card in pci-e slot 1 and the second in slot 2. Monitor 1 will be the dvi port closest to the motherboard in the card in slot 1. Monitor 2 will be the dvi port furthest from the motherboard in the card in slot 1. Either dvi port in the card in pci-e slot 2 can be used for Monitor 3. Boot the system and monitor one will come up active. When windows boots one or more of the other monitors may come up in mirror mode. No matter. Go into the nVidia control panel to the surround config setup. It will ask if you want to have the system auto select the settings. Let it. You must select the sli surround config option. The selection for SLI for highest gaming performance WILL NOT work for your setup. Uninstall and reinstall the video drivers before undertaking the above steps and post your results here. Lets see if we can't get you configured before you start packing things up. And I don't believe anyone will delete your posts. This is how we learn. This is why the folks responding to you bother with the forum even though our systems are setup and working fine. :) It's why Jacob, Shane and Co. are always out here with a quick response. TTYS... Let me Tell you what screen config I use - and I don't use surround gaming - this was just an example. I use 20" (4:3) 24" (16:10) 24" ( 16:10) 17" (4:3 turned around so I get 3:4 ) I work with CUDA Tools and Applications - That's why I only run Nvidia Cards and put all powerful inside which I had. My config should look like this: At the 295GTX only one of the 24" screens, just because I can run Cuda perfect and powerful on the other GPU of this card and with the picture giving GPU I can gamble if I want to, and windows and all rendering stuff runs fine. The other 24" screen is should be plug to the 8800GT because I can rund 3D renders with this power. The last two screen's ( the 20" and 17" ) connected to the 8800GTS -> because this card can show up easy texts and web browser during cuda calculations. Usually I ran 24/7 calc's on the second gpu of the 295GTX and 8800GTS. The other two GPUs stay free, just because of highly animated stuff etc. which i also use to open and or work with. the two 24" are my main workspace, the 20" and 17" are more for status showing or just opening the windows explorer and stuff like that or a browser... Hope know you can understand my problem, why I would prefer all cards to run. And why I don't buy for example 2x 470GTX ? just because no money is left, I just bought the EVGA SR2 because it was able to bee ship next day to me and had like me old Supermicro X8DTH-6 7x PCIe x8 in in X16. ( My Supermicro just died ... that's why I needed spend money in a board and not in GPUs... ) And it sounded nice in my mind to get more power out of my E5520 Xeons ;) and I can run the cards at X16 and not at X8.... MAFRI At EVGA I payed for this board 670Euro and for the SAS kontroler abut 150 with shipping and everything I payed about 900Euros, just to get my sytem up the next day and can continue working. That was on Friday - know it's Monday - any suggegstions how I get the system running before tomorrow evening with an other board ( meaning ordering know a Supermicro one... again... ) ? funny thing - tried with 3G Memory settings -> 2A But found out - even if 2 GPUs oder all 4 are build in the Bios shows during POST only "1 GPU" and as soon as I connect screen's to the other Cards -> 2 A as wrote down above this post...

Hey EVGA_NickM please also read post #7 from me. As I wrote down - tried every download able Bios version from your page. All power connectors are connected. 2x 8 Pin EPS and 2x 6 Pin PCI-Express for the CPU 1x 24 Pin for the motherboard and the 1x 6 Pin PCI-Express above the PCIe Slots. And of course the PCIe 6 and 8 Pin from the Graphiccards Actually I run A47 as Bios, but if you want to flash me an other I have every BIOS I could find on your page on my USB-bootable-Stick. Hope for help Thx MAFRI

Forget to wirite about this configuration - but it won't run ether... -295GTX in the first slot 1,2 or 3 screens – the screens stay dark but the system seems to boot up… - only if I set memory to 3G otherwise I will get -> 2A -Only GPUs in the System with any possible config and more than 1 screen on the first card -> 2A -Screens or Screens on the second card and no screen on the first one -> 2A -Screen or Screens on the third card ->2A

is it possible to disable somehow the option ROM for a singel slot ? I rember this from other dual server and workstation mainboards - that could fix it too... but don't know if it still work with i5520 and or nf200... and with just a single 295GTX and mem set to 3G I get -> 39 and than going back to 37 and after it going back to 39...

finally a post screen... got a config that works - mem 1G - and 8800GT to the frist slot 8800GTS to the thris and 295GTX in slot 7 and it's importend which DVI out you use.... 8800GT -> second 8800GTS -> both 295GTX -> first if you use any other outpot 2A will show up again... and if i add the xfi or the adaptec or both. doesn't matter I tried the same config with an 8600GT in the last slot and adaptec or /and XFI inside ->2A without Adaptec and X-Fi -> boot in the end it would be nice if it runs with 3 cards, but because i need to work as fast as possible. It Would be okay if I could use the 295GTX and 8800GT together. the 3 GPU setup could wait about a week or two. MAFRI Found out a 3 GPU config that works with the adaptec - but couldn't test with xfi and adaptec. Got two old MSI passive cooled 8600GTS 265MB from other systems put them in slot 5 and 7 and the 8800GTS in slot one. the adaptec is in slot 6. and note more slots free, because this damn MSI cards have a passive cooler hocked up via heatpipe above the cards... will test with 295 and 8800GT in first slot and post than. would be really nice if the system will run soon. anyway: what do you think about this card ? http://geizhals.at/deutschland/a536150.html ? will 3 of them run on the EVGA SR2? than i will buy them soon

Finally I got the system running. Here a quote from a mail to EVGA, After I tested everything in many System at a friend. Hey Tested all cards in my second system. Second system: ASUS P5QLE Intel E6600 ES @4 to 4,7Ghz under Single Stage 8GB DDR2 800 running at dunno have to look up if you need this. 500GB S-ATA One ODD 600W Zalaman PSU Win Vista x64 There all hardware showed no issue. But I was at a friend two hours ago, Tested there all Cards. And Memory and CPU ( Because I can’t test them here – haven’t another system where I can test them.) All worked fine accept the 295GTX. On an Intel P35, X48 and i5520 and i5000P chipset this card run fin without errors ( even in calculating tests and graphic tests ), but in his AMD AM3 rig or his Intel NF4 Socket 775 rig – black screen no powering up. And on one of his motherboards with a 1366 Socket and NF200 – boot up but lot’s of calculation failures during a short CUDA run. Funny – guess my old 295GTX has an issue, or a too old bios. Will contract tomorrow ( here in Germany it’s 00:37 AM ) the company where I bought this card in March 2009. After this i worte also an email to the manufactor of my card - Plait. The call me later and guess what? I should send in my card, and will get ( well after 6 to 8 weeks ) a 470GTX back ;) And the really funny thing comes now, they asked my which average use the card had. As I told them from March 2009, where I bought that card up to now, 24/7 full load with CUDA calculation. The wondered why my card is still alive... So much about product quality.... MAFRI P.S.: My friend gave me a 275GTX so I am able to work again. System runs fine with it.

Im curious. I thought the memory low gap was only a 32bit problem where it was running low on addressing space for memory with multiple cards.....That it doesnt exist in the 64bit world now. But Mafri is saying that it wouldnt event post prior to the OS without the low memory setting so I don't understand the situation with this? And also, since I have three GTX480s which each have a massive amount of RAM, how is memory addressing working because with three 480s theres no space at all under 4GB.....

Hi, it's me again with new problems... I got here 2x EVGA 465GTX Super Clocked and 3x PNY 465GTX ( with 10 Mem chips -> hopefully I can flash them soon to 470GTX ). anyway. this runs fine with the 2 EVGA and had run fine for about 5 day's with the 3 PNY 465GTX, but today after about 3h of gaming ( had time for it... ). the system just freezed.. and know it start freezing even when I enter the desktop and start for example a huge application or a graphic or cuda app. doesen't matter if i have the 2 EVGA or the 3 PNY inside.. and Plait will send me an 480GTX as exchange for the 295GTX ( i got a bit on their nerves :D ) this is the bluescreen code: Sry for German - but I think those codes are international....
