Question / Issue
Why does my X58 classified board show an FF instead of my temperature? Also, why does my temperature show it is a -XXC?

Answer / Solution

If your motherboard is not reading the CPU temperature correctly there are a few steps you should try.

1. Use a utility such as realtemp to verify whether or not there is an error, or the reading is way off.

2. Clear the CMOS via the CMOS battery. To do so, disconnect power from the system. Disconnect the 24 and 8 pin power connectors from the board. Remove the battery and wait about 10min. Replace the battery, reconnect the 8 and 24 pin power connectors, and reconnect power to the system.

3. Should you find the issue is still persisting, check the xcool jumper. It should be a 3 pin jumper just beneath the memory dimm slots. Make sure the jumper is on the left 2 pins closest the the USB and ethernet ports.

4. Check for any bent CPU pins and or test with another processor if possible.

If all else fails, contact EVGA's tech support 24/7 at 888-881-3842.
