Question / Issue
What is POST code 3E or E3 on a p55 motherboard?

Answer / Solution

The POST code E3 means there is no memory installed or detected on the P55 series motherboards.

Solution: Take out all memory but one stick in a non-black slot and test again. If you get the same code try a different stick in a different non-black slot. If you still get E3 with any stick, in every slot, try re-seating the CPU and checking for any bent or damages pins. If the CPU and socket look fine remount the CPU and heatsink. When installing the heatsink ensure you dont over tighten the screws, you need contact not pressure.

If you continue to have the code please remove the board from the case and place it on a non-conductive surface for testing purposes. If the problem still persists please contact our technical support, 888-881-EVGA

* Note 3E will be displayed when you are in the BIOS.
