Kind of interesting.  Used to overclock to 3.6 from a Q9450  and ram to 1600 from 1333 OCZ ram.   I put it back at stock settings and everything seems to run better.... all of a sudden I saw flickering graphics in WoW.  So I thought to myself maybe to change some things in the bios back to OCing.... well when I rebooted to ge to the bios all of a sudden I get a long beep....C1 error.    It says base ram in the manual... but seems strange that my ram would just go bad like that..... I've had nothing but problems with this mobo so deciding on just getting an Intel board.   It's fustrating...

I also found interesting that my CPU voltage is staying at v1.19.....   Yet I had it 1.4 of course with  vdroop goes lower.   At least I think thats the lingo..... So a little confused... maybe thats why nothing will boot?   It ran the mobo in safe mode and of course won't boot windows.  With my experience if things are set right it says on Vista that a file is missing or whatever.   Thats with my ram.  Soooo any ideas?

Try a system restore as it sound's like corrupted os.If you cannot get to boot to window"s then a fresh install would'nt hurt, just a big pain in the rear.If it is ntld loader file you might not have a choice.Good luck. This has happend to me and this is what I had to do.

Could be memory controller also.Do you have another rig to test memory?

These damn memory controller's are a weak link,I believe,with the 790 serie's.I have had same issue's and had to rma myself.It took 3 680i's,2 780i's,three 790 ultra's and 2 ftw anologue's but once you get a good one,fasten your safety belt!Dont give up,you will get a good one!

freezing can be likely caused by memory or by e.g. faulty MCP (I/O controller) failing under stress. I had to RMA one board because of that issue (bad MCP, overheating as well even after TIM replacement, etc.)

check chipset temps with everest.

sometimes small things can cause an avalanche

run a few stress tests now to see if it's completely stable
glad you sorted it out!
