I do think keeping your SB cool, is important for keeping your system stable. Have any of you guys completed any good SB mods?

On my Maximus SE, I removed the stock cooling, and cleaned the SB chip up to get it ready for a new heat sink....

I baught the Enzotech Forged Copper CNB-S1L to use on my SB, even though the sink is sold as a NB heat sink. I will only be giving it a SB workload assignment, so it should do a fine job for me. I used Arctic Silver Thermal Adhesive wich is a permanent adhesive.

http://www.arcticsilver.com/arctic_silver_thermal_adhesive.htm
I like the Caution: Arctic Silver Thermal Adhesive is a permanent adhesive.
Components you attach with Arctic Silver Thermal Adhesive will stay attached forever.

Staying attached forever is exactly what I'm looking for...
It's my gift to the Maximus for keeps.

I just feel like with the sink being stuck right to the chip, should help me realize some low SB temps. I know my 'chip to sink' contact is now much better than stock, and I'm betting the AS Thermal Adhesive will do a better job for me too.
I let it set for about 12 hours, with the weight on the chip while the adhesive dried.

Finished!!
Looks decent, and locked into this spot forever.

My SB temps are usually around 31C using this sink.

this is not so much a mod as it is a testement to cooling the SPP.  I've had zero lockups after watercooling the SPP.

I put an aftermarket fan on my 790 and that is about as far as I went.

Looks like a quality block to me...

I opted for air on the SB due to me only running 1 loop. I think I worry more about how many blocks I put in my loop than most. I knew I wanted my CPU and NB in the loop for sure.
(The NB on a Maximus SE can be a flame thrower too)

I also knew that I would want my GPU in the loop too, after I made sure I didn't catch a step up. I was trying to avoid buying 2 blocks...

I did indeed catch a step up from my GX2, and went for the 280. I was so excited, I had EVGA's official 280 block waiting at the house before my card even arrived. So I now am up to a CPU, NB, and 280 in my 1 loop.

I have considered the MOSFET blocks, and a SB water block, but am not ready to go to another loop, and am unwilling to add any more in.

Flow baby flow...

Not a good picture I know, it helps if you paste it into MS Paint.

The SB sink I used, is a low profile sink too...
A GX2 or 280 fit's right in top of it, but the sink never makes contact with the GPU.

Glad you boy's also agree, a cool SB helps to make a happy system.

No way I'd pay $110 for that, thing is worth $25 tops.
But then that site does not even know an elbow from a T so I'd suspect they know nothing about pricing their products right either.
