My motherboard was approved for a standard RMA, but I want to switch to the EAR program and have the motherboard cross shipped. When I called the phone support I only get an automated message.

you need to give EVGA CS a call, if you got automated response just leave a message, otherwise choose tech support they will be able ot direct your call to the appropriate people.

I am not sure if it's possible to change teh EAR but it's never a bad idea to call them to find out.

You may not switch a Standard RMA into an EAR.
In order to purchase an EAR for your product, you may cancel you current RMA before shipping your product, and purchase the EAR of your choice.
After the purchase you may activate your EAR.
