Hello, I completed a new set up a few weeks ago. This evga 750i sli, core 2 quad q9550, and 2x2048 corsair pc6400 ddr2 800mhz memory. Booted fine and windows installed perfect. Went on windows update and my vista sp1 install exe kept getting corrupted. So I continued on to download video drivers, those got corrupted too. Internet worked fine but I could not download any exe successfully. So I researched and decided to update the bios. Burned the Iso, install worked fine, I press F1 to restart, now it locks up on the bios screen. Sometimes it shows the processor and the error code will be 4E. Sometimes it will see the processor and memory, error code is then 52. I can't enter the bios and it just sits there froze. I tried resetting the bios, taking the battery out, letting it sit, played around with memory slots, even tried booting it up with nothing but the video card. Nothing. Stuck on one those 2 errors everytime. Any thing else I can do to try and fix?

Have you tried to redo the bios update? If that doesn't work find a previous bios update and try with that.

It's the none FTW version(122-YW-E173-TR) have problems with all 45nm yorkfield core(Q8xxx,Q9xxx). EVGA should change their product specification of this motherboard, it is not support all intel core 2 quad cpus.

I got exactly the same problem. Q9550 was working fine until I flashed new BIOS. Now the PC stops at 4E and that's it. My guess was the CPU and MB incompatibility in new version of the BIOS and I can (and going to) get another CPU for testing but how about the solution? Did anybody contact EVGA support and what did they say?

Is any way to flash old BIOS back? (just for case if another CPU will work).

I just ran into the same issue. I have been having lockups while playing games, always random, nothing I could pin down. It has been like this since February when I assembled this computer, but at least it had been working. I decided today, to go ahead and do a BIOS update to see if that fixed it. It didn't. During boot it gets as far as listing the processor then stops with a 4E code on the led display. I don't have any extra processors laying around so if it's a conflict with the latest BIOS release (S20S) and my processor (Q9400) then I'm fairly screwed. Anyone know what 4E means? I just can't picture the board working fine for all these months, then updating the BIOS and all of the sudden the board doesn't support my processor.

I was having trouble with my 750i and Q9650 randomly freezing during boot or installing windows, and I litterally tried everything including flashing the new bios.

As a last effort, I pulled the processor from my other computer (E6300, older core2 duo), and to my amazement, it works perfectly...now, I don't want to use this processor forever, so if evga could make an update that supports what they say they support...thatd be pleasant.

Same in my case. Old Core2 Duo processor works fine. Now I'm trying to find a way of reverting bios back original version. Conversation with EVGA support so far is not very useful: they keep talking me that I need to reset CMOS and restart the computer (I did this a hundred of times already, miracle didn't happen).

So, here is my little update concerning this issue. After using Core2 Duo I've returned Q9550 back and... it was working!!! I could enter BIOS, change settings and ever try to load Windows Vista. Unfortunately, only try since it hanged right after loading basic drivers (the last one was crcdisk.sys). Windows didn't load from a boot DVD too - some critical error during loading drivers. So, I've used CMOS reset and that was a mistake - now I have the old situation.

Maybe someone who has spare Core2 Duo can try different steps and go further? Please, write here the results.

Don't forget to load fail-safe settings before removing Core 2 Duo! I think this is important but I had just one attempt.

So, I've fixed this problem by flashing S20K version of BIOS (12/12/2008). The processor works fine now but I have issues with video (EVGA GTX295) - it crashes under heavy loading. Not sure if this is BIOS, the mobo or video issue but I've ordered ASUS for replacement. If anyone interested in buying 750i mobo in a great condition (in terms of the manufacturer) with a good discount - ask me and it's all yours.

I had to just go ahead and buy a new board. I don't have any spare processors laying around, so I can't flash the original BIOS back onto the board. And I'm certainly not going a couple of weeks without a computer for the RMA process. But getting a new board was a giant pain too. I got an Asus Striker II Formula, and it flat out sucks. I can only use half of my RAM because the board will not boot or reboot on the first try with four sticks, and it will not let me run the correct timings with all four sticks. Their support website is a nightmare too. Every other page load is a message saying that there is too much traffic to load the requested page. It's a bad sign when the support website has so much traffic that it won't load properly.

Finding a good 775 Nvidia chipset board is getting a little bit harder these days, so it looks like it's time to start putting money aside to go ahead and build an i7 system. Choosing a board won't be easy this time around though. Asus is out of the running for sure, and I have had bad experiences with MSI and XFX too. But I'm not so sure about EVGA either, since it was an introduced incompatibility in the latest BIOS that made my last board useless.

I've been having issues with 750i (not ftw) and Q8400 chip. To bad i can't get a refund on the week spent trying to get my computer to work! Is it false advertising to say a MB supports core 2 quad but it really doesn't. I bought my parts online and I fear another week will be wasted sending this junk board back. Can anyone suggest a non EVGA MB that will except my Q8400. The whole reason I bought a 750i was because i had this chip and it says its compatible.

My new mobo ASUS P5N-D arrives at Monday. I can post here results of testing (if moderators don't mind).

I had the same issue. Just bought the board and a nice quad core processor to go with it. Unfortunately, the 12/12/08 drivers don't work either, for me. So I'm stuck using this $40 celeron until they come out with bios that work.

What the god damned hell is this crap EVGA? I was looking for a budget 700 board, and thought the 750i FTW was great, I used that for a year at least, but now all NewEgg had was this non-FTW model. What's the deal? I'm getting corrupted downloads and bad NIC performance on one OS, and drivers are failing to install on XP32, why are there no EVGA personnel responding to this thread?

I've gave up with this mobo and purchased ASUS P5N-D (at about the same price). It works just great: BIOS is stable, quad cores are fully supported, good overclocking options (not a great benefit for me since i'm not an oc fan). Though, I have an issue with my EVGA GTX295 - video driver crashes intermittently under heavy usage of CUDA or PhysX. The same issue was with EVGA mobo so I start thinking this is a bug in video itself. I have not any proves yet but my opinion about EVGA products quality tender to be lower and lower.

A month before I had to return Xeno Killer, then I've retired mobo... this is a very bad trend.
