D.M.W.T -> 730I NB cooling solutions (8/20/2009 7:41:09 AM)

I just ordered this board, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813188035 and before it gets here I want to order a NB cooling solution. So a couple of questions.

Has anyone with the 730I installed an aftermarket NB cooler? If so which one worked best? I am guessing that the NB size and mounting is the same as any other, just wanted to make sure before I order a new NB HSF that its not some funky size.

Thanks for any info.

-i was wondering the same thing, since the north-bridge chip control most of the functions on the motherboard and is so close to the CPU which will generate a great deal of heat. I looked for an compatible north-bridge cooler and found this Extreme Spirit II. I have not been able to test it yet because it has not arrived as yet, I hope its compatible.

That thing is crazy looking. One of the EVGA tech guys is going to talk to the "build team" and see if he can get some specs for me, but let me know if that cooler works please.

I just added a 50x15mm fan to the existing HS (removed the emblem) with 2 sheet metal screws and connected it to a Molex connector rewired to run it at 5v.

-Sorry, It took so long. The Extreme Spirit II northbridge cooler works perfectly. I have it set-up in a Cooler Master-Scout Case with a Cooler Master Hyper N520 CPu cooler. I will attach some pictures later.

my nb temps haven't even moved the whole time i've had the 730i, and it's gotten pretty toasty in there. aftermarket cooling? meh, pass.
