wutsup -> Arma 2 video memory settings (7/20/2009 8:33:08 PM)

hello, ok so i was looking around the arma 2 official bis forums and found out that the video memory option in graphics setting when set to very high only takes advantage of 512mb, but if you have a video card with over 512mb( i have 1gb gtx285) then default is best because it will take advantage of 1gb. can anyone confirm this?

RiChess -> RE: Arma 2 video memory settings (7/21/2009 10:11:56 AM)

My FUD meter just had a heart attack and died.

are you just spamming my thread?

wutsup -> RE: Arma 2 video memory settings (7/21/2009 11:17:00 PM)

anyone?

RiChess -> RE: Arma 2 video memory settings (7/22/2009 2:33:03 PM)

What my post above meant, was that it's probably not true. What kind of game dev would intentionally choke performance at higher settings?

I would also like to know.....I seriously doubt it is true but still....[;)]
Higher=better FTW

NexusPhase -> RE: Arma 2 video memory settings (7/24/2009 5:55:38 PM)

i just wanted to thank wutsup for bringing the default video memory option to my attention. The game already ran great for me but now it runs even better[:D]

setting it higher and higher should use more and more mem. the highest setting should use all your RAM but it doesn't work that way in ARMA II.

Thanks again wutsup

clemsonfan_2001 -> RE: Arma 2 video memory settings (7/24/2009 7:31:55 PM)

NexusPhase,

I've played around with the settings a lot trying to improve game performance and read about different tweaks on the BIS forums.  Forcing off vertical sync in the nvidia control panel improved overall performance/smoothness of game play for many people, including myself.
Hopefully the next patch will resolve a lot of issues.

NexusPhase -> RE: Arma 2 video memory settings (7/24/2009 7:40:27 PM)

Thanks for the heads up Clemsonfan.... i'll try it

Samul -> RE: Arma 2 video memory settings (7/24/2009 9:03:24 PM)

I got vsync on and still get good fps with arma 2 all maxed out 1920X1080 just dont put any AA it really kills the game. Also you can tweak your windows to limit your ram your OS uses wich really helps if your have more than 4 GB. Turning off vsync helps but its ugly with screen tearing. I mostly play online and the game doesnt lag that much.

try single player you will lag, yea multiplayer is smoother because most servers tone down the view distance to like 1500. and any of you guys have arma2.exe has stopped working? i seem to get it everday......

NexusPhase -> RE: Arma 2 video memory settings (7/24/2009 9:50:06 PM)

I would say that i run ARMA II as close to perfact as one could get now...and all i did was put video mem to default.... i have every option maxed out at 10k view distance at 2048x1152 rez. i do turn post proc off most of the time because it makes things easier to see/clearer but having it on makes no diff in FPS

I have it at 3500... online. You can set it in most servers as well as grass density (I set it to full grass). Its when you press enter select the Show status option... and its all in there (visual distance and grass density). Single player is pretty lame, I bought the game just for the online.... I played the first few missions of single player (they are pretty fun) but its just not fun with Ai player instead of human.

Samul -> RE: Arma 2 video memory settings (7/25/2009 3:56:17 PM)

So no lag for me In ARMA 2.... only connexion lag.

I have had that error a few times..i have also had the game just blinked to dektop once with no error at all....wierd

markymark69 -> RE: Arma 2 video memory settings (7/26/2009 1:05:38 PM)

i was wondering if overclocking would affect this game in anyway?? anybody have an opinion or experiences on this??

OC will affect every game.... you wont see it in old games but your max FPS will get higher and higher.... like i play CCS @ 300+ FPS[:)]..  and an OC will help out in ARMA II fo sho, 99% of people can't get 60 fps in that game

markymark69 -> RE: Arma 2 video memory settings (7/27/2009 3:44:45 AM)

i am a lover of OCing and am currently running my Q6600 @ 3.4Ghz, i sometimes wonder if this would have an adverse affect on a game instead of making it run faster?? i will do some benchmark test to see how mine is running me thinks?? thanks for the reply Nexus[:)]

Samul -> RE: Arma 2 video memory settings (7/27/2009 4:35:26 AM)

Im at 3.4 Ghz with my E8400 and the game only slows down when Im zooming with the scope. When I was at 3.0 Ghz the game ran slower pretty much everywhere not just zooming with the scope. But again I dont play ARMA 2 on single player (whats the point? Online is the same but way faster), online is way more pleasing since you play basically on the same map doing pretty much what you do in single player but it has no Ai calculations thus making the game alot faster.... you can also tweak the Vision distance and grass density online. Trying different settings for grass and vision distance didnt affect my FPS much, it started to lower when I was around 6000 vision distance but grass has no effect. Ocing for this game is worth it since I find its the most demanding game to date.

Hehe no prob dude! I mostly play on TBG ( true born gaming) wich is a 60 player server 30 vs 30 Capture and holp gametype.... its pretty awesome.

wutsup -> RE: Arma 2 video memory settings (7/28/2009 9:11:58 AM)

i hate the interface to choose weapons in the bezerk beta hold servers. the text is so small and blurry, is it suppose to be like that?

Yeah the interface is pretty small but I find its the best server it doesnt lag as much as the other servers and its a 60 player server

wutsup -> RE: Arma 2 video memory settings (7/28/2009 6:36:48 PM)

and also the way the maps/ servers listed is so weird and beta like. all the servers say like beta server/test servers and the server selection list doesn't sepcifically same the mapi dunno its just confusing and not userfriendly
