powerboost support question

ok guys so i know the E760 i need will probably need the powerboost thingy on the slot for two 480s in sli. few questions first and foremost: can it go in the black slot? is that pci slot a no-go for powerboost? my plan is 2 480s in SLI and a 280 for Phys-x, but i run uber raid cards so that takes up the remaining pci-e slot, and i run a creative card in the x1 pci-e slot. so the big thing is can i use the black slot as the powerboost slot? and also\ do i even need it? i run a 1500Watt silverstone PSU so there is tons of clean power there. i know draw is the issue, but is there going to be enough with only 2 480's and a 280?

The Powerboost has to go into a PCIe slot (will not work in a PCI) There is a hard mod option that would work for you, The Powerboost will also work under a dual card, in the slot not used, I assume your going to be water cooled if you plan on running 3 dual cards, plus a 1X and still have room for a raid card. ( since water cooling converts a dual card into a single slot card) ;If you havent bought yet, the 762 would give you more PCIe slots and options,Plus it has 2 NF200 chips for 4x(16X ) Note it does NOT have a 1X , plus it already has a suplamental power plug for the additional PCIe power. The purpose of the powerboost is to provide an alternate source of power so that all your 12V power does not have to pass through the 14 pin connector, applying an additional source to the back side of the board accomplishes the same thing as a powerboost, but would void your warranty, ( Unless you could return the board to like factory condition prior to any RMA, http://www.evga.com/forums/tm.aspx?m=750557&mpage=5

the e762 uses the dreaded NF200. it is murder on raid cards, especially ones that i am running. man i dont know how to solder and fear i would screw that up badly.

You can always run without it, at the time of development EVGA said it affected less than 2% of the people with affected systems, ( systems capable of the issue, ) unfortunantly 2 480's and a 285, would be a high draw system, It's not the amount of watts you have that is the problem, it's how it gets to where it is going, High amps on the pin can cause enough heat to melt the plug, The 770 has a suplamental plug as well, But some have complained about it being to the side, where the PSU can get in the way, and you loose Spidif out in exchange for Ebot support, but do gain Marvell sata3 and usb3. But it looks like you would loose the 1X

maybe i could watercool the plug!! LOL that is retarded. seriously though maybe i could put a fan on it? wonder if that would help? doubt it. so im screwed without the voltmod? jesus. is there any other alternative to getting another board or voltmod? god shouldnt they just advance RMA this because it is a problem waiting to happen? what if i dont overvolt the 480's? just run em stock? would it be no issue then?
