my Psu just blew. i had a gtx 470 and a gts 250 working on the psu fine for about a week or 2 and thought everything was fine.. then last night i began folding again, both the graphic cards folding this time, after about a half an hour the PSU made a big POP! NOISE and sparks came out the rear.. so guess there wasn't enough juice in the ENERGON 750W Low-Noise 18-21dB Connectors - 20/24pin ATX connector - 6x HDD/DVD (Ohmlegs) - 2x FDD - 4x S-ATA - 1x EPS 8 pins, seperable to 4pins - 1x PCI-E 6+2 pins - 1x PCI-E 6 pins Tech Output: 750 Watt PFC: passive Fan: 135mm Fan control: automatic On /Off switch: yes Input: 240V only Noise Level: 18-21 dB Weight: 2,3 kg Certificates: CE, TÜV, RoHS
Sig has been messed up.. and was kinda old.. Currently working on a new one..

your lucky it lasted that long!!! get something reputable this time around or your components in the rig might be the next things to go. also, passive pfc is not a good sign either...usually the crap, low end units use passive. \m/

I think you should talk to the retailer about replacing the PSU with another one.. This time you I think you should go with a corsair or coolermaster..?

the 470 requires ~18Amps at load IIRC, and from everything I have seen, that PSU is questionable at best.

Yet another case of cheaping out on the psu. Like the others have said let that be a lesson and buy a psu of a good company. Antec, coolermaster, corsair are best bets

Im a friend of his and as far as I know he is going to buy the exact same PSU just with 1000W instead of 750W. I hope he changes his mind but a proper PSU (Corsair, CM, Antec etc.) is quite expensive here in Denmark. A few months ago I bought the AX1200 for 1500DKK. (around 410-420$). Now it costs almost 2000 DKK (550-560$)! Prizes are like hot air - only going up in the sky..!

The 20A rating is for each +12v over current protection circuit, or virtual rail. The combined +12v rail shows 650W which is just below 52A. Assuming it can output this wattage or close to it safely, i'd be fine. so i went for the upgrade from 750 to 1000watt :).. so i hope for the best :).. the dealer said to me full satisfaction or i could get my money back instant :).. the only thing this guy is lacking is the possibility to have more than 2 - 4pins :(.. so i have to limit myself to only one graphic card until i have the dual PSU connector :).. i have a spare psu on 300 watt to pull the dvd-drive and light when the time comes :)

Assuming it can output this wattage or close to it safely, i'd be fine. Just because the box says it can handle 650W and 52A doesnt mean that it actually can. I've seen reviews where a power supply can barely hit half of what it's rated for and they're always cheap and not well known brands like Energon. I mean I did a web search and couldnt find information on the thing. Read this review and you'll see what I mean... JonnyGuru's Sunbeam BKS580 Review

JonnyGuru's Sunbeam BKS580 Review i get what you mean :).. but i don't expect this to output the 1000w or the 800 on the 12v rails ... but as long as it can handle the 2 cards i am sattisfied :).. Nex_Lupus you shouldnt stick with energon mate..... energon is a series of power supply's made by Inter-tech :).. it is german :).. but i guess i should be fine now :).. will test when i get the setup fully operative with another power supply so i can get the lights back and the cd-drive too :D..

Are you serioulsy going to get another energon PSU? They may have a warranty that the retailer stands behind, but will it cover any copmonents that may get trashed in the process? Of all the things to go cheap on, the PSU isn't it.

From someone who used to use an old OEM PSU (500w Allied), I'd recommend shelling out the extra funds to get a decent supply. Corsair, Thermaltake, Cooler Master, they make good PSU's. For reference, I'm running a Thermaltake 850w Black Widow. 12v rail, measured at a Molex connector, is 12.15 volts idle, 12.14 volts loaded heavily.

Next time I agree that he should be a Corsair/CM/TT or even a antec.

Get a Corsair, Antec or Corsair or Antec. There's really no other alternative. Or coolermaster. Return that energon PSU. Remember, for your system 750W shoulda been more then enough. Yet it wasn't. So get a real psu.
