Re:EVGA Power Boost!

I ordered one to give it a try as I think it is a unique product. Now for the problem. Why oh why, would this ship out signature required when the signature required box was not checked? I can only imagine that the shipping costs more than the product itself. This should of just gone via USPS. I have had more problems with shipping errors over the years with EVGA than any other company I have ever dealt with. Once again, can we get this fixed so I do not have to drive 45 minutes to pick up a 20 buck item...

In other words, EVGA accepts Canadian credit cards. Check the site again.

I just got my boost. But i have a problem. There is only 1 4 pin molex in my computer and it is too short to reach the pci slot. What can I do? Only 4 pin molex i found was dangling from the dvd rom drive. I believe it is a IDE power connector. I don't even know if that is the correct one. Please help me. thanks

Square peg, round hole... does it fit in the connector or not? If yes but it can't reach, then just buy an extension so it can.

Hello. I just installed the boost. But once it is installed, how do you confirm that it is installed correctly? When windows booted up, it didn't say it found new hardware. How do you even confirm that this boost is even working?

its a power connector not hardware.Your PC wont detect it just like it doesn't detect Sata and 8 pin connectors either.Best way is to compare your voltages before and after on the 12V rail i would think

So I have read many pages on this thread but no answer yet exactly. Break it down barney style for me, what does this thing do exactly and why would I bother buying it? Something to do with evga boards having power issues or something?? Lol.. Sort of a noob, sorry.

A suggestion to eVGA, really it applies to all manufacturers, why not just use dual 8x pin power plugs on your video cards rather than one 6x and one 8x? Then you could draw 300W right from the power supply and wouldn't even need power from the motherboard. (I only run one card and won't need this device, although it seems to make sense when you have multiple cards.) EDIT: Let me clarify, using 2 8-pin connectors would make sense for cards that already use more than 225W. If you did that on the lower-end cards, it would just make them cost more.

Got my powerboost and here is my feedback: 1. Make the molex cable itself atleast twice as long. For me, I really want to try to hide molex plugs and with it being as short as it is, I was not able to route the cable underneath the motherboard before having to plug it it. And if there was any excess, it is easy to conceal, vs being to short on some of the XXXL size motherboards. 2. Packaging was a waste of cost and waste of resources. Ok this powerboost is tiny. Weights about an ounce. It was in its nice retail pack. That in turn was wrapped in 1.5 feet of bubble wrap and then placed in box number ONE. From there it was in a box that was about 1 foot by 8 inches by 5 inches tall. Fill that with peanuts and then put box ONE into BOX 2. Then ship it out signature required. Waste waste waste. A bubble wrap envelop would of been prefect shipped via usps would of been perfect and that would of dropped our price to about 10 bucks, where this product should be at.

Cleaner power is not the goal of this device, it's purpose is to supplement power. Nvidia and ATI have designed devices that do not conform to the PCIe spec and draw too much current thru the 24 pin plug when set up in Sli/Tri Sli or Crossfire specially when overclocked. Earlier in this thread it has been posted that you don't need this device if you have moderate soldering skills, wire and a molex connector.

I had the same issue, Fortunatly I order enough to be on a first name bases with my UPS driver, and he will leave a package despite the signature required status, as long as I leave him a note instructing him to do so, for each package comeing, and I can use tracking to know which days to leave the note.

Even if i do not have an SLI setup is it safe to install it on my board to help ensure that my pci-e provides constant adequate power/ease strain on my 24pin connector?? Also would having just 1 gtx260 installed on my motherboard with this installed possibly harm the card due to too much power being supplied by the power boost connector?
