X58 FTW3 EVBot port - why?

Whose bright idea was it to put the EVBot connector right next to the rear USB ports? In the few months I've had this X58 FTW3 4 people (plus myself) have tried to plug in a USB device and hit the pinouts and reset my PC. Is there any way to disable this EVBot port or somehow stop it from resetting my PC when I bridge the pins?

You could cover the hole with Duct tape, I've always heard that you can fix almost anything as long as there are two things in yout tool box, Duct tape, and WD-40.

yea i'm suprised you can't disable the port in the bios. I assume that's something they could add. They should either do that or ship the boards with a rubber plug.
