Interesting... Looks like a decent performance boost but I don't know how this is going to hold up to AMD's HD6900 series when that releases.

Looks pretty nice. 10-15% improvement over the 480 at lower power. Though seems like it might be another too little too late situation. I am very interested in seeing what AMD's new 69XX cards can do.

Nice having more space around the fan for cooler sli performance and sound through hdmi but whats up with having limited overclocking abilities due to the current regulator. I know the card can't pull more than 300w but this sounds bad to me.

Awesome review. Card is what I expected. If I had my step-up for my GTX 480 I'd use it. But I don't so I'm just gonna sit back and wait for Kepler.

I am just wondering how the 480 did so poor on metro 2033 even with my core i7 [link=mailto:965@stock]965@stock[/link] it never did that bad with my GTX 480 at stock those are like intense 3d vision numbers in bad spots of the game that are problematic wihtout mass overclocks or a second card.

If you have a 480, all you need to do is OC it to the same speeds, and you'll have pretty darn close if not just as good of performance. Also, your card won't be crippled for GPGPU tasks as is the 580. Basically, if you like to do more than just game, then the 580 IS NOT for you.

I may pick up one more GTX 480 and just go with it on tri sli for 1-2 more years. Use my gpus for more than gaming as it is, if I can score a used EVGA GTX 480 w/high flow/backplate for 250-350 dollars then ill go to tri sli. But it would be total overkill for me gaming wise not so much for gpu rendering for maya, encoding, or doing 2d work. But gaming full overkill

hehe nice card, although this is what GTX 480 should of been, overall the difference isn't major, not worth the GTX 580 name either, this card shall be for many a GTX 485, the performance boost overall when comparing to a GTX 480 is a mere 10 to 15% and in a very good case it's 30%. It was something most of us could of expected , back in 2008 this card was seen as the GTX 380 heh, looks like NV skipped a GTX 300 series heh, shame they messed up the names also, I went for a GTX 480, for 310 eur it was something too hard to leave behind.

Luv is correct, nice card but not much more than an over clocked 480. Going to hold off until their real next gen card. I will admit that this is what the 480 should have been.

I always hear people say that it's not that great and they are going to wait. The next thing I know, everyone has them and I am stuck feeling like the smelly kid in the back of the class. I wish everything would slow down a little so I'm not so broke!
