Here is the P31 bios modified to support Wolfdale/penryn cpus for those of you that need to use the 2nd x16 slot as the primary GPU.

Support for all CPUs that are supported by P33.

Yea thanks a plenty Mac, someone just recently was in the predicament of needing the lower x16 slot. Still can not for the life of me figure out why they added that  requirement. Stupidity on Nvidia's part.

I'll have to look for that poster tomorrow and inform them of this, beddie bye time for me right now though. LOL

I'd wonder if EVGA would allow this to be stickied as it is a often brought up question/topic even to this day. I'll have to put in for sticky request and maybe a BR for you as well.

My old 680i worked flawlessly with a E8500 Wolfdale, with the BIOS provided by EVGA... Why would you need a modded bios?

          as does mine with P33

However, you cannot use the 2nd x16 slot for a single GPU on any bios after p31 (p32, or p33).

P31 does not contain the microcode for wolfdale procs.

Windows also updates the microcodes automagically,  but you have to be able to boot to windows 1st (and u usually get dirty messages about unknown processors), wolfies wont, so bios microcode is the only option.

So if u have a wolfdale, and need the 2nd slot as single GPU (aftermarket coolers interfering with the 1st slot, or GPU blocking airflow for example in my case) this mod has the needed microcode added.

Since these rotten bios' are written in assembly, and very few hobbyist know it, removing the limitation from p32/p33 isnt really an option.  Also, the limitation may have been put in for a good reason thats fundamental to the changes made elsewhere in the code for those revisions.

Glad to hear it is all still going well. Seems I forgot to make an attempt at my statement in my last post as well. I'll have to remedy that soon. LOL
