I know we are on evga forums, but honestly i dont think EVGA precision is the best software for overclocking your card. depending on how far you want to overclock you may want to look into voltage control which precision does not currently support. If that is the case then you might want to look into using Afterburner. Now as far as overclocking your card i would just move it up 15-20 mhz at a time and keep testing its stability keep a good eye for artifacts and watch the temperatures of the card. You can use EVGA oc scanner for testing stability.

it's an evga forum but it doesn't matter since EVGA does appreciate the criticism to fix up the problems with precision, and yes for now MSI afterburner is the better tool to go with for OC the 480, also OP every card has different stock voltage clocks, so you need to test it yourself, I wouldn't advise OC unless you are on WC or are just doing a benchrun, since the performance gain in games is so little its not worth it, but give it a shot nonetheless since EVGA's warranty is not voided with OC, here's a guide that may help http://www.gnd-tech.com/m...GPU-Overclocking-Guide (thank boredgunner for this)

precision is fine with moderate overclocks. I have had no issues running on air @ 860 core clock, vantage and during gaming. Although the cards have a lifetime warranty, I don't run my 480s past stock clocks because I want them to last as long as possible, and I would prefer not dealing with the headache of an RMA.
