[Guide] Make your own fan shrouds Wednesday, September 29, 2010 5:51 PM (permalink)
Got any old fans that you don't need? And of those blue LED ones? I had five of them, and I needed shrouds to run my 480 rad the way I wanted to, so I turned them into shrouds.

Needed tools...

Q tip.. Or more if you bend it lol.
Dremel or cutting tool. Scissors won't work.
An old fan.

Note: in this I saved the LEDs because I want them for a different project.. I recommend doing what I did, but you don't have to.

So, here's how you turn this:

Into this:

First, if your fan has LEDs, like this:

Then what you'll wanna do is line up your Q tip with the LED, like:

And then push it into the LED to break the glue, it should come out the other side.

Then you'll want to take the sticker off the back of the fan.

And it's time to line up your dremel. Be careful not to take too much off or it can compromise your shroud to be.

Once you've cut through..

I fold the LEDs up in the middle to keep them out of the way.

And then you're left with this:

In action..

Have fun.
