I'm trying to remember, I could swear the core clock was unlocked when i installed the card then afterward it was locked. Did something go wrong or am I insane?

Don't think so.  My core voltage slider was greyed out in Precision before and after I installed this firmware on my fresh out of the box 460 SC 1GB EE.

I just got this (1373) puppy yesterday. My Processor clock slider in Precision was black at first but then I updated to 1.9.6 and the slider is there now. I can turn the fan to 100% and it idles at 40%.

Does that mean I already have the 'boost' apllied to my new card? How can I tell if I have the latest firmare version? I don't want to take the chance of rendering this new board useless if I don't have to.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

I got the update and i totally forget we are suppose to reinstall drivers. Are we really suppose to reinstall drivers? So what do i do exactly before i make a mistake here. Do i uninstall display driver and physx driver and driver sweep in safe mode then reinstall drivers and it's up to dated to use the full fan speed power increase? Can someone clarify? I just wanna be sure i get this right before i make a mistake. I did update this when i first got my card but i didn't pay attention to the fact we were suppose to reinstall drivers after the update?

Ive just applied the bios update to my 768 460 SC.. and reinstalled the drivers.

Could you confirm that the updated bios is 70.4.b.0.64... or has the update not gone through (no error messages at all or anything saying it had not applied the bios)

Oh really so it's no need to reinstall then? Lol.. I wonder how far this baby can oc? The nbrs on the sliders are really different compared to the original OC settings. I am not used to seeing bigger nbrs. What's the most stable clocked the gtx 460 SC can go up to? Anyone?

The first download link (768-P3-1360-XX - EVGA GeForce GTX 460) downloads a corrupt zip file. CRC error at end of file. I'm assuming it's the fault of the FTP so I will try again later, but just wanted to let you know.

Not sure either. Can't tell if this is the latest, but from Precision my GPU BIOS is 70.04.13.00.72. Where can we find the info that tells us the 'boost' version?

                    Hi,

I just installed this update for my GTX 460 1GB EE. It caused severely long load times to occur when I boot up my computer (during the pre-post screen, validating DMI screen, and windows loading screen).

I think this may or may not have to do with the fact that I am running the GTX 460 with an EVGA 9800 gtx+ card (not trying to SLI, and I need the other card for quad-mon support). Someone help me please, the load times are unbearable!

                    My system info:
                    Core i7 920 @ 3.8ghz
                    Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD5 X58 Motherboard
                    DDR3 6gb ram @ 1600
                    2x1tb Caviar Blacks in Raid-0
                    EVGA GTX 460 1gb EE
                    EVGA 9800 GTX+ 512mb
                    Windows 7 64-bit

Uninstall drivers, clean with driversweeper (guru3d.com) and reinstall latest WHQL.

I applied the FPB to my 460 EE with a 9800GTX+ installed in slot #2, no probs.  Runs fine and didn't need a new driver install, but your case might be different.  Likely a driver issue.

I already pushed the GTX460 768mb card pretty far in clock speed. Currently, I was able to play very intense games (Cr*s*s) on highest settings with these speeds:
                        917/1834/1800 @ 56*C max (according to GPU-Z)

So this FPB will do these things?:
                        - increase gpu core voltage
                        - unlock fan speed
                        - ?? What else??

So I flashed the bios  with no issue. What do I do when I get my second card to do SLI as the clock speeds will be different. Do I just install the 2nd  card and rerun the bios update?

I have a question regarding the FPB

The last step tells you to re-install the latest nvidia drivers... To apply the performance boost, do you need to uninstall the display drivers before applying the boost ? Or can you just install it and then uninstall drivers/re-install drivers ? Or is the re-installation process not needed ?

                              I have a GTX 460 768mb (stock)

I'd have 2 in SLI but my corsair TX750 is short on power to run them both with my current setup

                              Thanks!

The FPB does NOT increase voltage.

The only benefit you will get is the fan speed unlock.

Will these updated work for the newly released reference cooler 460s?  I just ordered one last night and it will be here early next week and I want to know if my card is going to come with this stuff unlocked or I will be able to / have to download one of the unlocks to get this stuff working.

                                  This is the new card:

I'm trying to remember, I could swear the core clock was unlocked when i installed the card then afterward it was locked. Did something go wrong or am I insane?

Don't think so.  My core voltage slider was greyed out in Precision before and after I installed this firmware on my fresh out of the box 460 SC 1GB EE.

not the core voltage slider but the core mhz slider

Will these updated work for the newly released reference cooler 460s?  I just ordered one last night and it will be here early next week and I want to know if my card is going to come with this stuff unlocked or I will be able to / have to download one of the unlocks to get this stuff working.

                                      This is the new card:

                                      Hi Elliot,

Jacob mentioned in an earlier post on another forum thread that "this update is being applied to all production cards now."

                                      Here's the post:

From the looks of the product page, that sku you posted already shows the GPU at 720 MHz, so no, you won't need to do anything to your new card, as the FPB is already applied.  Further, you'll know when you install Precision, as you should also be able to crank the fan up to 100% from the old maximum of 70%.

                                      Hope that helps.

                                          Hi,
I've got two 460s SC 1GB EE cards and was wondering if I need to remove one card to update the Bios or can I update the Bios' on both cards without removing any?

I just got the update and MSI afterburner shows my core clock  locked at 405, and EVGA precision sits at 405 idle, and 675 under load.  Shouldn't I be up at 720?  Also EVGA precision doesn't let me adjust coore clock on my 460, but I can on my 9800 GTX.  The update must have worked though because I adjust fan up to 100%.  Any ideas how I can get this working??

Got my 1GB 460 SC EE with this firmware already on it. My card runs much hotter than your average 460 because its factory voltage is 1012mV - my friend's pre-"FBP" 460 (same card as mine) is only 964mV stock and runs much cooler.

What's with the difference? I can't stand the fact that I got an inferior card when I'm paying top end prices (in the 460 bracket) for a 460.

When I try to apply the update I get the message:

I have seen other people mention this problem here but I have not seen a solution posted. Would someone help me fix this?

Anyone getting any BSOD's from having an overclock on your card with the fans high (like 100%), then pressing the reset all button on Precision to set it to default?

Happens after gaming for a bit, then resetting to default (reset all button). Don't know.

Anyone getting any BSOD's from having an overclock on your card with the fans high (like 100%), then pressing the reset all button on Precision to set it to default?

Happens after gaming for a bit, then resetting to default (reset all button). Don't know.

Seems like every time I hit the "Reset all" button it crashes. I tried a mild overclock and it was fine, until I tried to set it back to stock settings.. BAM, BSOD.

Do the fan kick up till 99 % percent without the bios update, when you´re close to max thermals?

Mine does kick up 100% so I guess I don't need to update my cards. What is the revision number of this latest BIOS so I can compare?
