So regular cards go to up to say SC speeds and SC's go even higher? Pretty sweet.

So, no boost for those of us with SC cards? :( 100% fan speed is appreciated, if usually unnecessary with these cards. :P

I got all excited there for a second. I thought this might be a core unlocker like ASUS did with their 465s. A 384 core 460 would be awesome.

Precision 1.9.5 allows me to set 80% fanspeed on my 1GB SC EE. Is this being reported correctly, or is it 70% for just the standard clock cards? This is a nice move to better position EVGA GTX460 vanilla product against the competition. Jacob, can you confirm our SC cards are binned? Otherwise moving clocks closer removes some of the incentive to pay more for SC...

Staypuft, here's a link to another fan speed post where your question is answered: http://www.evga.com/forums/tm.aspx?m=482413 Jacob mentions in that thread that "On the EE SC version the max is 80%, on the EE standard version the max is 70%" However, that's about to change with FPB.

EVGA_JacobF fighter25 Yay! Thanks Jacob! How does the FPB work? Like what does it do with the card? Increases the clockrates and unclocks the max user adjustable fanspeed. So basically its just another SC\SSC\FTW card? How did you guys come out with the idea to call it a Free Performance Boost when all you do is increase the clock rates, and unlock the fan. Other than the fan being unlocked (which wont make the performance any higher), all you did is raised the clock, which has been done for years on cards and never been advertised as "free". Especially when its most likely going to increase the power usage of the card.

So what your saying is, I paid extra for my SC card and your going to boost the regulars close to my SC card for free? Anyone else feel cheated? I know I do.

Provided the SC cards are binned like staypuft asked, I can work with the regulars getting a little perk, though admittedly it does seem a little odd to sell SC cards for a couple weeks then bring stock cards near the same level. Query: Are the stock cards going up to, say, 700Mhz (which keeps both SKUs a fair distance apart still) or are we looking at more like 725, which I'd bet brings it within a frame or maybe two of the SC.

I just got to say..... there sure is alot of people that you just cant make happy. It sure would be nice to see more people say "THANKYOU EVGA". Think about it. Evga could just say thanks you bought are card and leave it at that but no... they have done much more. To me, they have gone many steps above what other companies have failed to do. Not looking for any browney points here. Just had to say this. oh.. one more thing. Thanks Evga.... doing a great job.

So let's say I have a stock 470, and I've overclocked it to Superclocked specs. What kind of benefit would I get from FPB?

From the teaser screenshot posted by Jacob, it looks like the 675 MHz clock speed is getting boosted to 720 MHz, which will still be below the 763 MHz the Superclocked cards are set at.

Quick question for jacobf, or anyone that may know the answer, will SLI users have to remove a card to flash them one at a time? Thanks.

In Canada, newegg.ca is selling the EVGA 1GB EE Superclocked 763 MHz for only $10 more than the normal clocked version running at 675. For the extra $10, you're still getting a faster core clock and a faster memory clock. From all the reviews I've read and the customer testimonials, it appears that most purchasers are trying to push their GTX 460's beyond 763 MHz anyway, and are gunning for 800(+). The faster fan speeds with FPB are going to give those overclockers more cooling, albeit at the expense of more noise, but they'll likely gain higher OC's. I'm still riding the fence on my purchase updgrade, as I want to actually hear the difference in blower noise, if any, when compared to my 8800 GTS 512. Some testimonials say the blower is loud, some say it's fine and that it doesn't bother them. I guess the only way to really find out is to fork over the dough.
