Have you ever brought theses ideas or pictures to companies like swifttech,etc,etc to see if they were interested in doing a such thing????
 
Actually the micro x58 sli is not a common board, Its a very good board actually, I am using it now, 4ghz prime95 stable.
 
 
The only problem with this dang board is the pci-e is so damn close to one another, why did evga did this is way beyond me but I think it was intended for watercooling, and ever since I put the waterblock on my ati 5970, I have room now, before nope, or with the gtx216 which was my last card.

Welcome to the forums!  Why would I bring the idea to those other companies?  They are more then capable of making it, there just is only a small group of people who want it, so to them its not worth it.  When those that do want it- they only have to PM ;)

When this does come to production, I would very much like one. If it all works out in the end that is. I know you have made one before.

Trust me, it will all work out.  It will be up for production as soon as the programming is complete.  Hand-jamming all the code is taking a while with no CAM program.

I would suggest using pink foam on the first part, that way you can actually watch the entire process. and have a part that can be measured for basic QC.
 
Plus pink foam is forgiving if you accidentally use a G00 command instead of a G01, broke a few endmills doing that...

ha!  Didn't even think of that.  I was thinking plexi first.  I made the first out of lexan, but I actually made a basic shell out of Alumn, no fins or anything.  I am saving that for when I actually finish my tooling plate. 

All the programming has been completed. 

 
Now a bit more work on the mill must be done, and I am ready to hit the GO button.

Almost done installing the flood coolant for my CNC. 

 
Another step closer to production.  Need to finish a tooling plate, tram the machine (make everything square) and make a few practice runs...

Yup!  All at home in my basement.  I would like to have coolant flowing by the end of today as long as things go according to schedule.

New to the forum, but great job. Looks like your the only one who's making these blocks for the micro. Curious how much one of these run. Also is it possible to engrave names into the block with your cam; just look nice if I had my alias on it if I ordered one. xP

Cleared some of the shavings away, and you can see the makings of a micro block.  Just basically trying to perfect it.

 
And one completed top block prototype (unfinished) complete with beads. (Don't ask, my 1 year old was on my lap when I was taking the picture)

Try 15-20% soluble oil for the cutting fluid mix., and aim the coolant stream directly at the tip of the endmill.
try a smaller nozzle tip so it blasts the chips out of the toolpath immediatelly.
Otherwise the swarf tends to gall and rub on the tooling and workpiece.
 
It should improve the finish and extend your tooling life...
 
Plus the soluble oil will protect any Steel /ferrous surfaces.

Nice ... that is a serious upgrade to CAD for the designing and making of your blocks ... is this Version 4.0 for the Micro Block or what? :P

I am using Kool-Mist mixed with water.  I actually am not using a nozzle, I can't seem to find the nozzle, but the volume of water from the pond pump I am using seems to "float" out the small chips. Looking into an aquarium pump to perhaps feed in with the water to give it some "oomph"
 
I will say the tramming and the coolant and using a precision collet allows for at least 10ipm feeding the 1/8 endmill through Aluminum.  I don't cut at that speed, but its nice to know I can.  Overall I am VERY pleased with the machine.  I actually took that micro block to a legit machinist at work and he even said its amazing considering its a home made CNC machine from 2x2" cold rolled square steel tubing.
