Fast new 445 points WU (P3470).
Tuesday, February 09, 2010 4:19 PM
( permalink)
I just had an 445wu (P3470) on my GTS250 card and that WU was flying (high ppd and low temp): Compared to 353wu: ~30% higher ppd and ~10c lower temp. I've searched the FAH-Forums and could not find any info. But I found info at FAH-Addict: New nVidia GPU2 projects: 3469 and 3470 I'm curious how my GTX275 card will perform running this WU.

I had just one sofar. On my GTS250 I get 6777 ppd with the 353wu's ... but 8738 ppd with the 445wu.

Foldmiester Glad to hear some good news for Nvidia clients for a change it seems the less atoms in the WU the lower heat and higher ppd. most of the recent projects have been ports of ATI (548) and PS3 (445) clients to double check results, gain higher accuracy, and speed up computing too.

I picked up some new WU's, 445's, 450's and 375's. The odd thing is the 9800 series cards love them and are crushing the PPD but the GTX cards do not like them and the PPD is lower. Just thought that was odd.

I have been getting those off and on for about a week and they actually have been a couple hundred PPD faster than the 353 pointers on the GTX 285 but slower on the 9800 series. Again odd.

According to FahMon, my 9600GT folding a Project 3470 is giving me 6300PPD. HFM.NET says 6100PPD. I usually get 3000PPD max. God I love these projects! Edit: Whoa. I raised my core clocks and memory clocks from my usual folding speeds to a full OC setting while the shaders remained at 1800Mhz, I got an extra 1000PPD. That or the WU just automatically sped up coincidentally when I changed my clocks...

I can confirm that the 445 WU's are slow on the GTX275 and GTX 295 cards. The 548 and 343 WU's are much better. Luckily, I did not get many 445 WU's so far.

Does any of you have any explanation why these new units don't like G200 cards and enjoy the G92 and older GPU's??? How much CPU does it use?

I only had one 445wu on my GTS250 so far, so I could not test it. But have a look at the Core clockspeed of the cards and their PPD's. List of results posted so far (Core clocks of reference cards in MHz): 8800 GT = 600 (7000 ppd) 9600 GSO = 600 (6590 ppd, P3469) 9600 GT = 600 (6300 ppd) 9800 GT = 600 (7400 - 7860 ppd, low power version = 5490 ppd) GTS 250 = 738 (8740 ppd, core = 725) GTX 260 = 576 (7300 ppd) GTX 295 = 576 (7120 ppd) And Geokilla did see a PPD increase after raising his Core & Mem clocks. geokilla Edit: Whoa. I raised my core clocks and memory clocks from my usual folding speeds to a full OC setting while the shaders remained at 1800Mhz, I got an extra 1000PPD. this needs to be tested more thoroughly because core clock should have no influence on gpgpu. all it does is rasterize pixels in a fixed function pipeline. sirgrinalot My 9800GT ran at 7934.69 ppd on project 3469, had about 2 I think. Edit: Core Clock 700 Shader Clock 1790 Memory 950 Why are they double the points the ps3 receives for one of these gpu - 450 points ps3 - 250 points? the nvidia client is more accurate and stanford has high priority for gpu's to finish this work.
