So I see smoke outside my office today and go to investigate. I see this behind my office right outside Jersey Mike's subs.

 
So the fire department comes and does their job. Curiosity got the better of me after it was out, so I went to look at the burned out husk of the truck and this is what I find.
 

 
Please note in the back of the pick up truck, that big metal object is a barbeque grill.
I love living in the south.

LOL I note a couple of things really
1 - a complete lack of people
2 - a very dry floor around the truck
 
Where is the owner LOL

There was no one there when the fire was going on either. I thought that was very odd. The water from the fire truck ran down hill away from the front of the truck. I have a video of the whole thing, but I can't get it from my phone to my computer here at work. I may be able to post it tonight.

it looks as if it started in the cab or engine .  Still kinda funny to see tho.  Nothing wrong with grilling in the back of a truck.  I took my dodge 3500 out to the beach where they said no personal grills... hehehe i just fired that sucker up in the bed and we had one heck of a cook out.

So no one said anything to you for grilling in the bed?  Any dirty looks?  Man, I gotta find a no personal grills site so I can try that :D  I found a small webber on the side of the road where someone lost their house that I can easily fit just about anywhere.  I'd probably rather have a hibachi since it would sit low on the tail and be easy to access from ground level. 

I assume the only damage was the truck (and the poor grill)?  I hope so - and if so, thankfully nobody or anything else was damaged. 
 
We had a guy a couple of years ago drive in to our lot at work with flames coming out of the top of his hood.  He parked it right in the middle of the entire lot (the lot was full by the way).  He knew it was on fire, parked it (oh yeah - in the middle of other cars), and came in to work.  One of my friends car was parked right next to his. 
 
At least this person had the decency to make sure nobody else was around him!

I'm surprised the propane tank didn't blow.  That would have been interesting.

I sent a picture to my son who then asked me if the barbeque was responsible for the fire. I told him that I don't know, but wondered what percent of burned out trucks with barbeque grills in the back were not set on fire by the barbeque grill.
I think it is a charcoal grill, though, not propane. Hence the chimney.

My Bad. That explains why it did not blow. I did not look that closely at it.

Turns out it was an electrical fire and not the grill. When I drove by the truck tonight, the grill was already gone.

LOL!! They have a grill in the back thats why!! STUPID!!

Watching that video totally made my night.  Those firemen looked like this was no big deal!

From the time they arrived on scene suited up, unrolled hose, turn on pressure, pick up hose and attack fire....about a minute.

I don't have to climb trees. I'm 6'8" so I am a tree. I guess all my photos and videos must look like I am standing on some kind of platform.
No real reason th rush on the job of extinguishing the frire. The damage had been done to the vehicle, there were no other vehicles close enough to be at risk and it was far enough away from the shops to not really impact them. So speed was not really needed. But they were pretty quick overall.

Nope. I just walked past a tree while trying to get a better angle on the fire.
Those things make for interesting days at work.

The tri-tip was well done, but the truck was extra crispy.
