lowe0 Probably the Riva TNT, or maybe the GeForce 256. had them too they felt well in AGP cards era other video upgrades I remember, was trading my 275 SLI (zero overclockability) + 260 for physx for a single 570 card (with nice overclocks), oh man! I was happy that I had so much better performance with a single card than when using all of those 3 cards at once (pulling a lot of power with mediocre results)

I don't know if it was the video card or the cpu or both but my favorite upgrade was from a AMD X2/BFG 6800 GT to a i7-920/BFG GTX 280.

My favorite moment was probably the rig I built when I was 15. Dropped two BFG 7800GTX's in SLI with one of AMD's first dual core X2 procs, and for a moment I had one of the best 3dmark '03 scores in the world. Just behind a guy with the same setup on Ln2. These classys are pretty enjoyable as well, but I haven't had the time I want to really dig into them and do some tweaking and benching.

I had an opportunity to trade my 2x 7800gt's into a build I was making for a friend for more than enough to buy a 7950 gx2. I still have the 7950 gx2. I love how ridiculous that card is. They just 'glued' 2 PCB's together and called it a day.

I think going from a Radeon 9250 to a GTX 285 was my best moment.

My biggest upgrade was going from a laptop with integrated Intel i830M graphics to a 7900GT (which I believe was an EVGA, ironically enough). Now, part of that could have been that I also went from a single core Celeron at 1.2GHz to a dual core Athlon 64 X2 3800+ at 2GHz with 4 times the amount of RAM (512MB to 2GB), but still. I've never had a video upgrade as major as that since.

Original 3DFX Voodoo PCI card because it was so revolutionary. It was so awesome, it made me spend $600 on two Voodoo 2 PCI cards in my first SLI setup. After that, Radeon All-In-Wonder 9700 (because it was facinating) BFG GTX 285 (because it was so fast and cool) Galaxy GTX 465 SLI ( because it SLI scaled like nothing ever seen before) After those products, all other upgrades GTX580 SLI and GTX 670 FTW seem incremental rather than revolutionary.

I cannot recall which one, but it is when I realized that the competition had been reduced to such a degree, that there was only 2 choices for GPU manufacturers. I thought that my decisions may have helped other companies stay in the game, but it was not to be. I wonder often what might have happened with 1 or 2 more companies in the mix. I extremely happy with my GTX 680 SC Sig, but what if...

Stop with the unboxing videos already, it is this generations "mullet hair cut".

7900 GTX to 8800 GTX. Huge jump in performance. The 8800 architecture lasted clear up to the gts 250. Amazing series for Nvidia. I also really loved TRI-SLI 280s as I could play Crysis maxed when it was first out!

4mb VRAM S3 Virge PCI to 3DFX Voodoo 1 (Canopus 6MB version) No other gaming upgrade I've made has even come close to this. Edit: Distant second was 3DFX Voodoo 3 to Asus GeForce 256 (32-bit color gaming ftw) Really every upgrade since the Radeon 9800 Pro has seemed incremental to me although some of the increments have been a lot bigger then others, in particular GeForce 6800GT to Radeon X1900XTX ... Oblivion went from slide-show to smooth as silk!
