Difference between GTX 680 FTW+ & Classified ? Thursday, July 12, 2012 9:38 AM (permalink)
Hi!
Can you tell me in detail whats the difference between those cards ?

Ok, the classified is faster...did both have a vapor chamber cooling?
The fan is bigger? Which card is more silent? The classfied is a much bigger card?

I am thinking about to switch my EVGA GTX680 SLI (2GB) to the 4GB FTW or classified SLI.
I play @2880x1800 and the memory is most time full...

But I don't want to buy EVGA Bot for higher OC of the classi.

Which card would you recommend?

Or should i get for the little price difference : two classi's ?
At this moment i can save €60,- each card when i take the FTW+

If you don't plan on utilizing unlocked voltages with an EVBot, I'd go with the FTW cards. Although, the fan on the classified does push more air, so you could run it cooler and quieter.

Someone in here wrote that the classified's fan runs @50-55% and the should be noisy?

It shows the fan runs at 55%, but this can just be considered 100%. It appears to be maxing at 3300RPM, and pushes more air than the smaller fans on other cards. The cooler is quite amazing and so far has been able to keep a card at 53*C under full load at "55%", so you could drop it down to run quieter, while still moving a good amount of air.

          phew...

thats a point for the classified.

I don't like card the runs (@warm days) near or over 90 degrees. Then i like to use a more powerful cooling (with more noise),
          but with lower temperatures.

The thing is: i hope the classified is @idle "quiet" for working with photoshop & adobe premiere.

          Edit:

btw: i like the MSI GTX680 Lightning too, it has an superb cooling solution. But i don't thrust it for SLI.
All the heat is in the case... what do you think ?

          btw, here is my case:

The GTX 680 FTW still runs cool, and is not very loud at all.  It has a vapor chamber cooler.  The MSI GTX 680 Lightning might not be worth it - $600 for 2GB, and it doesn't even have unlocked voltages.  The guy who is supposed to program MSI Afterburner to give it unlocked voltages said that it might not even be possible.  Like you say, the cooler may not be the best choice for SLI due to it dumping heat back into your case.

Since you won't buy EVBot for voltage tuning, I say just buy the EVGA GTX 680 FTW 4GB (standard).  No need to spend extra for the FTW+, it just has a mild OC which you can probably do yourself.

Hi guyes, I got one question. I searched for the answer in the whole forum, but I couldn't find it.
Can you say me what the "OC Bios Mode" which is featured by EVGA's gtx 680 classified does exactly mean ?
Does it mean for example that you can increase the voltage or somthing like that ?

                Edit:
Okay, if someone is interested in...I got the answer.
The OC Bios mode is made for people who cool their graphic cards with for example nitrogen or ice.
There they have very low temps which go down to -50 degrees. And there comes the feature.
At these temps the cards have problems with voltage regulation and the OC Bios mode helps to fix these problems.
Thats all! I talked to an EVGA-worker and he gave me that answer.
