    And In November M$ will announce appallingly dismal sales for its new OS.

      Wow that soon for Windows 8: Vista Wannabe Edition? Seems just like yesterday when they first announced Win8.

          Well the CEO basically promised a three year release cycle. The Vista release was appalling based on the number of delays.

              You might be correct. It all depends if the Windows 8 tablets do well or not . You can also see the strategy is to release just before the shopping season for x-mas.

                Why for every new technology, hardware or software, there is always this group of folks that have such a pessimistic viewpoint which vanishes after debut?  It is as if most of them put their collective foots in their mouths.
                How CPU watts relate to degrees? - How can overclocking affect CPU lifespan? - TEC/Peltier definitions, formulas and temperature estimations

                For Intel processors, 0.123 x TDP = Continuous Amps at 12v [source].  This includes around 30% overhead, so it isn't minimum for operation.  TDP is not actual per CPU, it is a range for multiple processors to qualify for the same OEM cooler and power rating, and allows Intel to debut future processors in the same TDP.

                  The shock and amazement of that new technology, hardware or software, beating/destroying/oldizing their current technology, hardware or software is just to much.

                  Windows 8 probably won't beat Windows 7 in performance but if you look at efficiency instead Win8 is about two times more effective than Win7 in almost everything.

                            I won't get it.  Tablet OS belongs on tablet, not on desktop.
                            Note: I'm not saying you will get it anytime soon, but I think you're making the same mistake many folks are making:  We aren't seeing the big picture and as usual many people tend to judge only on what they've seen so far, as if there isn't anything else.

                            All rumors we read are not objective because the anonymous leaker choose only a part of something based on what they believe other people want to read about.  Marketing is exactly the same; since companies can't satisfy everyone all the time, they target a big chunk first = The popular subject is mobility (tablet, laptop, smartphone).  Except they aren't the only systems out there and of course a variation of the Win 8 kernel will appear for desktops and servers-- again, not as a "Tablet OS".

                            The structure of the OS isn't so unique that the interface can't be changed-- all we've been looking at through video and screenshots is one version of the interface with touch sensitive buttons and such, I doubt it will be the only interface and so far an in-depth look at the actual operating system of Windows 8 without the tablet aspect has not been shown yet.

                            I have a feeling, in fact a strong one, that the part of Win 8 that would appeal to gamers isn't being covered because it isn't popular to talk about (because most people don't do PC games).  Once it is discovered; all this doom and gloom, pessimistic junk, 'its not for us'-- it'll vanish because it won't be seen as a mobile-only OS anymore.  Time doesn't stop right here afterall.

                                    Biggest consumer failure ever... Windows 7+ with a interface nobody wants.

                                    Windows 7 will dominate software and sales until Windows 9 release. Charging $40 isnt going to help....
                                    Hopefully after everyone involved with this "Vista like"  mistake is fired, they can start working on 128 or 256bit OS like they should have, with task tier options

                                    Microsoft is still using 40yr old design thinking in its OS and the one size shoe for everyone mindset. Fancy UI's cant make up for that shortcoming, not to mention the fact that this "new" generation of Microsoft developers lacks the basic training to foster new OS developments.

                                    Has anyone watched the Microsoft videos of the department heads explaining Windows 8 features?
                                    OMG what a bunch of retarded losers just filling their pockets as yes men.....

                                            No it just has a better understanding of the VMT front-end in Bulldozer.  No other AMD product will become more efficient.

                                            Windows 8 other noticeable improvements:
                                            Audio Processing Units will talk less with the CPU improving it's performance. (WASAPI)
                                            Graphic Processing Units will be given the ability to switch at any time between DX9/DX10/DX11 on the fly. (DX11.1)
                                            SSDs will be given TRIM through RAID without drivers. (SSD TRIM RAID)
                                            Native USB 3.0 drivers that are more stable than NECs. (USB 3.0)
                                            Lower memory footprint. (Improved Kernel/etc)
                                            Support for more processor cores and more memory. (Exascale and DDR4 ready)

                                                  If Windows 8 make 3.0 drivers for things that should be like our 2500k, 2600k and 2700k processors and make them able to take use of ppls 3.0 machines includeing the MB GPU cards that can use 3.0 and make drivers for them to be able for users to bring up their 2.0 processors to 3.0 them I would probably get it.

                                                        They can only block the implementation or the speed.  So, you have a X79 board and have a 670 till recently you wouldn't be able to run on PCI-E 3.0.  Nvidia backed down on the statement Intel's PCI-E 3.0 isn't 8 GT/s.

                                                        In the case of i5 2500K, i7 2600K, i7 2700K they don't have PCI-E 3.0 phys so they can never achieve PCI-E 3.0 spec.

                                                        i5 2500 to i7 2700K -> 5 GT/s Read and Write(Can only run @ PCI-E 2.0 and lower)
                                                        i7 3820 to i7 3960X -> 8 GT/s Read and Write(Always runs @ PCI-E 3.0 and lower)
                                                        i5 3570 to i7 3770K -> 8 GT/s Read and Write(Always runs @ PCI-E 3.0 and lower)

                                                        AMD doesn't follow the spec.
                                                        890/990FX -> 8 GT/s Read and 5 GT/s Write(NB always runs @ PCI-E 2.1 spec regardless of device(PCI-E 2.1 and PCI-E 3.0 can dynamically switch in between specs) since AMD doesn't have full implementation of PCI-E 3.0 they can't advertise such)
                                                        Trinity should do the same thing as above^

                                                            Windows 8 with the said "RTM" build with the latest Win8 drivers technically runs games better.

                                                            If you were to get an avg of 60 fps the improvement you can see will be in the range of 72 fps to 90 fps.  If you didn't have Vysnc on or had a 120Hz monitor.  Windows 8 is a lot more lightweight compared to Windows 7 so it requires less resources(time/CPU cylces/memory) to do the same thing.  They basically applied what they learned with making WinRT to Win32(which in turn improves Win64).
