I won't get it. Tablet OS belongs on tablet, not on desktop.
Note: I'm not saying you will get it anytime soon, but I think you're making the same mistake many folks are making:
We aren't seeing the big picture and as usual many people tend to judge only on what they've seen so far, as if there isn't anything else.
All rumors we read are not objective because the anonymous leaker choose only a part of something based on what they believe other people want to read about. Marketing is exactly the same; since companies can't satisfy everyone all the time, they target a big chunk first = The popular subject is mobility (tablet, laptop, smartphone). Except they aren't the only systems out there and of course a variation of the Win 8 kernel will appear for desktops and servers-- again, not as a "Tablet OS".
The structure of the OS isn't so unique that the interface can't be changed-- all we've been looking at through video and screenshots is one version of the interface with touch sensitive buttons and such, I doubt it will be the only interface and so far an in-depth look at the actual operating system of Windows 8 without the tablet aspect has not been shown yet.
I have a feeling, in fact a strong one, that the part of Win 8 that would appeal to gamers isn't being covered because it isn't popular to talk about (because most people don't do PC games). Once it is discovered; all this doom and gloom, pessimistic junk, 'its not for us'-- it'll vanish because it won't be seen as a mobile-only OS anymore. Time doesn't stop right here afterall.
