Was searching for a new GPU to drive my new monitor setup as the one i had didn't have enough VRAM. Based on what craptacular one suggested i ended up getting a 7950 3GB and my frame rate went up more than i expected! I can finally play BF3 on ultra at full resolution! Someone give the man a BR!

Yay!
Man is capable of as much atrocities as he has imagination. To err is human, to blame someone else is good management skills People are, well, only human. We know that. The rule of law is borne out in identifying, condemning, and punishing those who violate the standards on which we all agree. This is exactly what we do in America. I am free because I know that I alone am morally responsible for everything I do. I am free, no matter what rules surround me. If I find them tolerable, I tolerate them; if I find them too obnoxious, I break them. I am free because I know that I alone am morally responsible for everything I do.

Ati is winning at ultra high resolution right now anyways. I'll probably buy nvidia this round though since I'm trying to do an all evga rig.

i really fail to see the merits on why someone buying a 7950 3GB is worthy of a BR.

Yes I am being a hypocrite. That was the entire purpose of this thread. If buying a network cable based on someone else is enough to get a bar then crap deserves a br for recommending the gpu to me. Till crap is awarded the br or the one from the other thread is removed I will not let this rest

Well, those HD7950's are only $340 - It's with 3GB of VRAM on a 384 bit memory interface. While the GTX 670 is minimum $399 and only 2GB of VRAM. Then if you want a 4GB version of the GTX 670 you are looking in the range of $484 and that's the cheapest solution for what Moose needs... Once you look into the Classified GTX 680 4GB, it's in the range of $659... With that price, i'd rather go out and buy two HD7950's for $680 and have WAYYYYY more performance than what a single GTX 680 4GB classified will crank out. BR for CraptacularOne!

Was confused at first. Had one of my legacy stuff moments and was about to say "nVidia never made a 7950GT with that much VRAM" until I realized that it had to be an AMD card. Still, a good deal and I also nominate CraptacularOne for the BR.

Well, I'm glad you bumped your performance up a bit. Your previous card's only 1GB of VRAM was crippling your frame rates as I told you. As for why I didn't suggest something like a GTX670 or GTX680 it's simple, he's looking to get respectable performance now while not breaking the bank and wants to have the funds available for GK110 when it finally launches.
Core i5 2500K // GTX670 + Surround // GTX470// EVGA P67 FTW // 8GB (2x4GB) G.Skill 1600Mhz DDR3 // Ultra X3 1000w PSU // Windows 7 Pro 64bit

I've settled this by giving a BR to Crap but only because his advice was sound based on the amount of money that the OP had to spend. Now everyone be nice!
Intel i7 3820 + Corsair H100, Corsair Vengeance LP Black 32GB (CML32GX3M4A1600C10), EVGA GTX 680, (GTX 580/GTX 670SC for folding) Corsair AX1200 + Sleeved Corsair Modular cabling, EVGA X79 SLI MB, Corsair Force GS 240GB SSD (system), WD 2TB Black (two) for storage/backup, Acer 23.6 inch LCD, Windows 7 Ultimate, Corsair 600T White Special Edition PC chassis, Corsair M60 + K60, Corsair Vengeance 2000 Headset, Corsair Link. R.I.P. JeffreyHam I'll keep folding for you and others in an effort to find a cure!
