560 Ti overclocking Issues. Pls Help.

So I am at a wall with my 560 ti, i thought overclocking was to increase frame rate right? lol well. it just so happens when i overclock my FPS drops. Dont know what im doing wrong. Using the newest evga precision and benching with evga OC scanner @ 1600x 1050 full screen gets 49fps clock rate 850/2052/V @1050 mv and no matter what I set it too anything over stock FPS drops. The more I overclock the more the Frame rate drops.

stonybudz1 i thought overclocking was to increase frame rate right? Try clocking the chip alone. I can only assume that you're clocking the mem too? If you're familiar with OC'ng then you should know this. If you need more information then I suggest you take a look at our OC'ng guides here in the EVGA forums to learn more.

Game benches and applications like 3Dmark11 or Vantage are a better indicator.

You can always use MSI afterburner. I had a problem like you. I overclocked my 560 to a point where I overclocked it to high which gave me less frame rate than usual. You can say I "over overclocked" my card to high. It was a weird first hand experience I had with my card. Its just weird in your case that not matter what overclock you have above stock settings, your fps tends to goes down. Maybe your chip does not like overclocking. Where you able to overclock before this all happened? Or did you just decided to overclock with your card and you found out that it cant function right?

You could have got a bastard card that simply will not OC. Mine will not OC period. Which really sucks since it has a better cooler then the regular version. But, that is the luck of the draw. OC is not a guarantee. Also. You could try increasing voltage. Some cards like it hot and nasty. Requiring high voltage to run a decent OC. Also as stated before. Concentrate on core OC. Don't worry about the memory until you get 100% stable core. Some times the issue can be with the memory simply not wanting to OC.

Remember that GDDR5 has built-in error correction and overclocking too much the memory will lower the framerate because of the errors and the time lost correcting them.

Thanks for all the advise guys. Ive overclocked just the core (no mem), still same thing happens, dropped frame rate. Funny, its like its mocking me, just 5 up on the core and FPS goes down 2. 20 up on the core and FPS drops 12. I get this vision of the card going .!.. 0.o ha ha ha no O/C for you. -.- ..... I've even over Volted with Ocing but the results are even worse. Hell even just over volting without the over clock drops my FPS lmfao faceplam.... oh well I guess I just got a bunk card for O/C. Ive thought of many different possible things that would cause me this headache, I dont think that the card running on x8 lane would have any impact in performance. The AMD chip set that im working with (890GX) shouldnt have any effect. My old 8800gtx Oced just fine on it. Also on a small note, Ive ran Heaven DX11 and it says the same as EVGA precision.

Number one mistake is choking the graphics card of power. Make sure you have a quality PSU before overclocking your system.

I have Antec Signature SG-850 850W. 25A on the 12V. that should be enough power to O/C a single 560 . Had this PSU for over 3 years and still running strong. Also have CPU Oced from 3.2 dual core to 4.4 tri core (on Air ). but that has no effect on Ocing the 560 even with the CPU stock speeds the GPU just doesn't like being Oced.
