I was curious once so i did a price comparison xbox vs pc. They prices pretty much both equal each other. Ill see if i can do it again.
xbox: $350                   PC:$800-$2000
TV: $500-$1500            Monitor: $160-$1500
3x controllers: $150        Keyboard/mouse: $100-$200
Games: $30-$60            Games:$5-60
Sound system:$150-300  Headset: $120-$200
Xbox live: $60 PER month  Online: FREE

Lets say you have each system for 5years.
Xbox low end:$1450   PC low end:$1180
Xbox High end: $2600  PC High end:$3900
This doesnt even include games into the mix. I havent bought a game for more than $15 since battlefield 3 that i preordered. Almost all used xbox games are $30 or more.

Also the PC high end is crazy high end. That like 3 ultra sharp monitors and a crazy rig.

I know someone will say, but everyone already has a TV. True but i successfully hooked my computer up to TV for 4 years or so and gamed just fine.

Also anyone with an Xbox is most likely going to have some form of computer also. PC users only have to buy the PC.

So you see when people say that xbox is so much cheaper. It truly isnt, its just people only look at $350 XBOX vs $1000 PC. They dont include everything else into the picture.

Man you summed it down GOOD!! No one could not even say it better. Good job Will. I like your points on how PC is more for the hardcore gamer that is more technical and console people are plug and play. Lol that guy in the video is Linus. I like his videos I subscribed to him. Man only ff they can start making some console games on PC like how some other people mentioned. My game on Xbox is Forza Motorsports 4. I am racer gamer(beside me racing for real on the track).  I showed my friend about  my PC and he was like WOW **** that looks good!! He was asking my why cant they let console people upgrade there systems and all that like PC people can. I told him its because console is gay like that lol. O by the way they are trying to get rid of the used video game market now with consoles games. They want to start it in the future where console games will have a key like PC does. When a store like Game Stop sells a used game, that money goes to Game Stop instead of the actual game developers. Game developers only get money if the game is bought bran new and that is why they made it where you have to buy BF3 and other games brand new to play online with a code. These game developers are getting greedy now days and want a bigger piece of the pie. Well it sucks for those that play console.

yeah i already see that with ea games on console. You now need the key that came with the game in order to play online which is super lame. that was one of the only good things about console. The ability to lend games to one another before buying the game yourself.

The whole console vs PC thing has been around since I was in Diapers and people started putting dos games on their PC's, maybe longer? (I'm looking at you pentagon slackers playing isometric thermonuclear war)

Really though lets look at the key differences:

    -Console -

    • Up to 4 controllers (though this is dying, last time I went to rent or buy a new game only those stupid "party" games had room for any type of 4 Player CO-Op)
    • Ease of use hook up, pop in disc, play (for the most part but consoles have glitches and very stupid methods of shortening load times (looking at you PS3))
    • Communication (this was likely the best one, until all we found were 5 year olds talking smack)
    • Longevity consoles are "almost" guaranteed to be support for 5+ years before an upgrade is forced on you

    -PC-

    • Keyboard and mouse though most games are becoming console ports so this method is becoming very wonky in certain titles (looking at you mass effect!)
    • Graphics amazing compared to Xbox but we are again comparing computers of today to consoles of over a decade ago and in this video not even the console best known for graphics (PS3 > Xbox)
    • Customization we can build how we want it when we want it and keep upgrading in most cases!
    • Modding  The consoles just do NOT have the modding community that we do, some of the user generated content is so amazing that we have spin off games adopted by the companies that made the original game or inspire the modders to form their companys (think counter strike, Left 4 Dead, DOTA etc)
    • Steam sales - Nuff said

There are MANY cons to both, from being FORCED to pay crazy prices on consoles, inferior design for heat, no upgradability, glitchy games with no hopes of ever being fixed to computers HIGH cost of staying in the game (our crap is obsolete somewhere between the UPS man loading it onto his truck and and smashing it into our porch), or the ridiculous amount of cheaters using "hacks" unchecked.

I think we can just agree that both have their own unique features that can appeal to us in different situation, I don't know about you but unless I'm entering my 70+lb rig in a contest I don't feel like hauling it to any type of event be it a lan party or otherwise. My xbox is there for exactly what it is a casual gaming experience. If I want to just hop on for 30 minutes that's were I turn.

I can plug in 4 controllers to my PC too.

PC is the same way, after you install Windows of course.

      PC has microphone support too?

With consoles, when the next gen models come out, you have no choice but to buy it if you wish to play new games.  On PC, you typically don't have to upgrade anything in order play new games.  You'll just be limited to lower/lowest settings.  An 8800GTX from 5-6 years ago can still play most modern games on medium settings or better at 1080p.  For what it's worth, I have a writeup on this issue here.

I say PC hands down, the console is barely upgraded every 6 years, PC is updated less than 18 months :)

Some people argue that's a bad thing because we have to spend money to upgrade but I agree with you.

I'm surprised console users don't raise hell about being forced to look at ads when you pay monthly fee for xbox live.  If MS can get away with that kind of crap i bet Sony will do it too if they don't already.
