gtx560 on fire

I am having trouble keeping my NVidia gtx 560 temps in a good range. I have tried everything I can think of to lower the temp of my gpu, fan speed at 100% through EVGA Precision , more case fans, case open, case closed, every thermal paste (tim - Thermal interface material) on the market, every tim application method. I have tried artic silver, ic diamond7, gc2 and because I'm out of all of the above, dynex silver (it sucks. idle 58c). Tried pea method, line method, and even spread method of tim application. Best result was, prep with artic clean, and even spreading method with artic silver . Changed the heat sink to a spendy aftermarket cooler (icy vision r2). Temp’s run like this, idle at desktop with 2 lcd's is 50-60c. Idle with 1 monitor is 33-38c. Is it normal to jump 20c+ by adding second monitor? Under load (bf3-maxP3 1280x1024) this card got up to 102c in less than 5 min with 2 monitors. With one monitor it averaged 86 to 90c Case temp is 27 to 29c. Processor under load never breaks 40c. Card is at stock speeds and I don't plan to over clock. I haven't ben able to play a game since I got this card because I don't want to burn it, or my board up. please help! what can i do to keep this thing under 70c at load. I would prefer 40-50c at load. I have read this thing is a heater and 60-70c is good? Is their something wrong with my card? Even at 102c for a min it never failed but I don't see running anything that hot except my oven when cooking a pizza. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. My rig is: antek 300 case, all fans installed. 750w psu gigabyte 970a-ud3 mb amd965 black 8 gb ddr3 (4 2gb sticks) evga gtx 560 2gb 1t sata disk cpu cooler h60 gpu cooler gelid icy vision 2 I took off the icyvision and reatached stock cooler minus the plastic plenum. fan speed at 100%. ran heaven bench mark at defult settings and temp tops at 84c. case temp 29c. idle is 32c. I can game at 1024x768, still hot at 84c.

Check your +12V rail via your bios. It sounds like your card is overvolting which is increasing the temp drastically no matter what you do. Theorotically the GPU will be fine up to 12.6V but I usually get antzy at 12.4V.

12v rail in bios reads 11.985 volts. Is .015v low bad?

That's not bad at all... there goes that idea. The theoritical min/max for the 12V rails is 5%. That means 11.4V - 12.6V. In good practice though, the 12V should between 11.9V - 12.3V for overclocking and 11.7V - 12.4V for non-OCing stability. 11.985V is very good. Are you overclocking anything of your system? CPU or PCIE lanes? Are you overclocking the GPU at all?

No I don't over colock anything. This card is an upgrade from gtx 460 with icyvision cooler that ran at 65c load @ 1280x1024 with 2 lcd monitors and game @1280x1024.

To me is is sounding like a bumm card. I would likely suggest getting in touch with EVGA and get a replacement. The only other option is confirming if the issue is the same in another system. Based on your description though, I doubt it will be any different though.

That card should not even be running at 102c. The max temp is 99c and it should be down clocking or shutting down. Is the stock voltage super high? The card sounds faulty. Add in possible high stock voltage. And you have a disaster for a faulty card.

EVGA US was only closed yesterday. I would suggest trying to call them @ 888-881-EVGA and talk to their tech support. They are 24/7 (minus major holidays).

Dear CableNinja, I am very sorry to hear that you are having a problem with your graphics card. Unfortunately I am not seeing any emails or tickets sent in from the registered account or email, but we are definitely here to assist. In this case it does sound like you may be having a problem with the card and I can recommend exchanging it with the place of purchase. If you are not able to exchange it for any reason please email me at chrisb@evga.com and I will work with you directly to have the card sent in for repair or exchange with us in California. Once again I am very sorry to hear that you are having a problem and please let me know if you should need any additional assistance.
